Time to replace John Currie

Just because he hasn't come out and said anything doesn't mean he isn't making those calculations. People actually have the ability to think in their minds without saying anything. Something this board can't grasp.

But, with our history. You can't assume anything. Who knows? I just beleive the longer we wait the worse it will be.

Easy to go around attacking someone and calling them a liar. Grow up kid.

To be fair, isn't that what this thread is about?

Attacking John Currie and doing so with disregard for his previous decisions and without knowledge of his current efforts?

We need to show Currie how serious this situation has become- A Large Rally with #FireButch Signs will hit home & shame the Administrators into taking action to fix the Program- #WeWantGruden - At a minimum he should be asked about interest in the job & Money should not be an issue in hiring a Proven Winner.

If players showed no effort and quit, he’d be gone. Prob is they really showed a lot of fight in that bama game, which is fine by me.

He wasn't the last 2 ADs, so I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and not start threads for every asanine thought that comes to my head calling for a guy to be fired when he's been on the job for 7 months.

Clueless. Regardless of what the "right thing to do" as far as hiring a new coach is, Butch brings absolutely nothing but apathy to the table at this point and he's hurting the program. Anybody that can't see that just doesn't want to see it or doesn't have the ability to comprehend it.

Well, as I last looked, I had at least 4 other people who liked my post, and you had zero, so I don't think I'm that clueless. And if I am, at least I'm not the only one.

Butch IS hurting the program. Obviously.

But you know what's worse than Butch?

Having an interim step in and realizing that our assistants are just as bad. Or maybe that we just really truly are a bad football team.

Right now, Butch is the scapegoat. And you know what? Yeah, it's ugly right now. And I hate it. And we are freaking underdogs to Kentucky. We should never be underdogs to Kentucky in any sport not involving a orange round ball. NEVER.

But at least right now, we can blame it on Butch, and ALL on Butch. We may fire him before the season is over, but it's still the same if we do or if we don't.

Give it time. If everyone had knee jerk reactions, nobody would ever make a smart decision. Sometimes the smart one is the one that takes longer than normal.

Stop. I don't want a trigger happy guy. I want a AD who is calculated, deliberate, and who makes the right decision when it really is the right time.

This season is likely done for. No matter what we do, we may not even make a bowl. We may finish the worst in history. I don't know. But apparently, the environment within the coaches isn't even good enough to name an interim.

You're ridiculous if you're talking about Currie just because he hasn't pulled the trigger as soon as you'd like him to. Give the man a chance to do the right thing, and honestly, it may not even happen until after the season is over. Just breathe. It's already bad. If it gets worse, it just means you're definitely going to get the outcome you and everyone else is clamoring for. But at least give Currie a chance to play it his way.

Because if all of this pans out and he does end up hiring a winner, you're going to feel really dumb.

Brady Hoke is a former HC that won 11 games at Michigan. We have Bob Shoop and Gillespie. Like you said the season is over. So you mean to tell me neither of those guys have the ability to step in and be an interim? If thats truly the case, then we need a complete coaching overhaul from top to bottom.

But the oP says he handles money so he must know something we don't about managing an athletic department....:)

EDIT: well said

That is why I left that part out.

Your quote "Easy to go around attacking someone and calling them a liar. Grow up kid."

This thread is all about attacking Currie.

Just pointing out the hypocrisy.

We are in uncharted coach firing territory this year.

With an early signing period on Dec 20th, that adds a new wrinkle to the timing and impact of firing a coach, unless you want to risk a whole recruiting class. There is no legitimate candidate that is going to be available prior to the first half of December anyway.

I don't know what the right answer is regarding when to fire the coach, but the "Fire the AD because he has not fired the coach yet" crowd should understand that with no AD, no decent coach would even think about coming.

No, OP. You just don't understand. The UT athletic department does this for a living and they are experts at their jobs. The past decade has proven it. So go play with your Legos or Barbie dolls instead of criticizing experts with a proven track record. They've known what has been going on behind the scenes for the past decade. Not you.

Currie seems to be afraid that if he hires a coach that has had 7/8+ wins over the last 3 years, that many coaches will be afraid to come here due to the high expectations. He's waiting for butch to win 6 so he can justify his firing to prospective coaches.

IM going to say this and its not aimed at you it is aimed at Currie. If your post is what Currie is doing then he is gutless and doesnt need to be our AD. Any coach that knows our situation and sees our talent that has been recruited understands why Jones is fired .

I hope your point isn't that in year 5 of a rebuild at a program like UT - we should be content with the guys fighting hard against Alabama. The 2nd and 3rd stringers for Bama played most of the second half against us. Did you note that the score when Saban called off his 1st string was only 28-0. Even with the score at 28-0, he had so much confidence that we couldn't move the ball, he was willing to play the backups for pretty much the whole 2nd half. Bama has the ball in the redzone when Batuli (spelling?) got the pick 6. 14 point turnaround, right? Did Saban put back his 1st string offense into the game with the score now 28-7? NOOO! He continued to play the backups who eventually scored 17 more points to cover the spread. Hmmm...I call that domination. Beating Kentucky, Missouri, and Vandy should never be a measuring stick for this program - not in year 5 of a rebuild.

Id much rather him take the time and get this right than to screw it up and sit us back further. I want Butch gone yesterday but I'm struggling to see how it will be any better with him gone. Our o-line is terrible. Wide receivers are not getting separation and look lost. Defensive looks ok early and fades late because of having to be on the field so much. Like I said I want him gone too, but I'm not sure it gets better if he goes. Now or later. I guess you help recruiting by getting rid of him now and getting another coach in to start to build relationships. Also this is the first major hire. He has never hired a football coach before, so let's let's make sure we get it right and not just get it right now.
