Time to replace John Currie

John Currie is just a figurehead

I was told by someone reliable that Currie "will not" be making the hiring and firing decision at UT.

I suspect this is why Blackburn was not hired

Unfortunately, I'm afraid you are right and I think we are seeing evidence of it right in front of us.

Good grief!

OP reminds me of a 4 year kid trying to play whack-a-mole at Chucky Cheese for the 1st time.

Your simply not going to be able to 'fire' yourself to relevance. A quick trigger will only make us worse. As for Butch? Fiver years is more than enough to tell us he's just not going to get it (game time coaching on the SEC level). Fire Currie? Laughable. Top caliber Coaches and ADs look for stable situations.

Stop. I don't want a trigger happy guy. I want a AD who is calculated, deliberate, and who makes the right decision when it really is the right time.

This season is likely done for. No matter what we do, we may not even make a bowl. We may finish the worst in history. I don't know. But apparently, the environment within the coaches isn't even good enough to name an interim.

You're ridiculous if you're talking about Currie just because he hasn't pulled the trigger as soon as you'd like him to. Give the man a chance to do the right thing, and honestly, it may not even happen until after the season is over. Just breathe. It's already bad. If it gets worse, it just means you're definitely going to get the outcome you and everyone else is clamoring for. But at least give Currie a chance to play it his way.

Because if all of this pans out and he does end up hiring a winner, you're going to feel really dumb.

Really ?
You think ending 5 years of garbage is being trigger happy??!
Poor fulmer !! One bad year and to the curb .
This clown is given 5 years to embarrass UT and still we let if continue .
Screw the administration . Pathetic .
Grow a pair Currie

The problem is what if Jones wins out? Will he save his job? I know this is highly unlikely but it's possible. I for one don't want Jones back no matter what he does the rest of the season against teams we should beat every year.

Haven't had confidence in Currie since day one, but good grief...the man has been at UT since April & surely is calculating this far-reaching decision with great care. Knee-jerk fans need to breathe. :ermm:

Everyone forgets the option that nobody on this message board is smart enough or informed enough to know anything that's going on.

Especially OP.

Daily reminder that you have no idea what's going on behind the scenes

But some do know right??
Seems to be the real, kines with all the butthurt are the ones on here expecting a message board of anonymous posters to provide anything but attempts at comedy and rumors

So keep condescending and mocking bc I guess that makes you feel better???

Fire his arse.

Easy for you to say. But if he fires the coach without a sound plan going forward, some of the same cry babies wanting Butch fired now will be wanting him back in three years when the next guy wears out his welcome.

So sit back, relax, and let it play out.

Heard today that Butch is in a ultimatum game at Kentucky. He has to win that game or he is fired. If he wins there we keep plugging along with him until he loses another game this season.
Several boosters want him fired now but the Haslams still holding out.

I would like to point out how well the other football team that the Haslams are associated with are doing. The Browns haven't won a game and play like crap. BY the time the Haslams are done with UT we wont be winning a game either. Having lots of money doesn't mean you are smart about everything. The Haslams ARE the problem with UT football.

A really good AD should be making this calcualtion every single week even before the season starts. Tjere is no excuse for not having all tje scenarios mapped out prior to being needed

I really don't think it's "knee-jerk" anymore when we have negative school records being broke every game and we looking at the worse record in school history.

I'm starting to feel that way but then again Nebraska hasn't fired there coach either

But Neb knows exactly where they are going.......and the fans know.

It is different than the Tennessee situation.

But u can't really even want to fire Curie when we don't know what is going on. Heck he may have something big in the works.........but I hope we know something before it is done.

Just because he hasn't come out and said anything doesn't mean he isn't making those calculations. People actually have the ability to think in their minds without saying anything. Something this board can't grasp.

What calculations could he be making that would benefit from retaining a coach that is throwing players under the bus and the press conference?
