This OC search can’t be good for recruiting!?

He can’t even bring in an OC...

And how does that make you feel?

Sometimes the average fan can't immediately recognize or isn't always aware of all the repercussions and consequences for recruiting in situations like this... the effects aren't always immediate, and often times end up being detrimental down the road.

It has already done that to one of our rivals, and we're capitalizing on it. Some pretty interesting observations about this very topic by Mullen, that I'm not sure most folks know about, or at least aren't discussing much on the board...

Mullen explains rule impacting bowl-less teams' recruiting

ByThomas Goldkamp

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida making a bowl game was big for a little-known but important reason other than just getting an extra 15 practices for development or having the chance to secure a 10th win in the 2018 season.

And key in-state rival Florida State not making one had some tangible consequences.

I'm sorry, but if a freaking OC search keeps you from coming here then good riddance.

I think the point is every second spent on an OC search is a second gained by every rival the program competes with for recruits; and that article explains why and how.

I was primarily addressing the OP, but yes. It would make sense that the time Pruitt is spending on this OC search is taking time out of the recruiting trail.

I know, just thought everyone might appreciate what's in there; I follow recruiting, but didn't know about that extra little "fringe benefit"... which turns out to be a pretty big deal this time of year.

I hope the next time a coach leaves, it is kept quiet until the replacement is recruited and accepts the job. Then announce both the departure and replacement. Probably not possible in this day and age.

Sure we had someone sign, but for the 2020 class... Signing day is just around the corner and there has been ZERO leaks of any substance. It’s almost as if Pruitt isn’t even conducting a search at all with the absolute lack of any real insider info. This can’t look good for recruiting and makes me wonder if we are gonna even hire an OC...

Recruits see this and the longer this drags out the less committed some of them might become. Seriously what gives with this search??
Or maybe they become less committed if they look at our offensive ranking of 110 or however low it was. That was something to tell Mom and Dad about. How do you fix that? No style points for an OC to sell a recruit right there.

This here should tell u alot bout ur coach..He struggling to get a OC..
I see you’re pissed that Brandon fell so far down the depth chart this year, in Pruitt’s first year. Hated to see him struggle, but he struggled, mightily. That’s why he didn’t get the playing time he got in 2017. Could’ve used him to provide depth in the WR room, but he just wasn’t up to it. Hope he plays better next year. If he does, got a feeling you won’t be quite so critical of JP.
