This has always been a 5 year rebuild

You act like he took over for 2 games as interim. He coached the majority of the season in his interim year. He had 34 games under his belt going on 3rd year with title of head coach.

You are either very young or very old if you do not remember Clemson going baths!t crazy after Dabo going 6-7 in his 3rd season running the team.

Keep in mind that Dabo’s first ACC championship came in a year when not a single ACC team (including Clemson) finished in the final top 20...that’s not the same environment any new coach is going to experience in the SEC any time soon.

The whole team played with better effort.

Pruitt’s recruits are the best players on the field.

A negaVol like me shouldn’t have to talk you off the ledge. Give Pruitt more time.

If Pruitt's recruits are better how come Butch's boy is still playing QB ? That tells me Pruitt's boys aren't all they are cracked up to be.

I mean it’s pretty clear right?

Maurer couldn’t keep healthy

Bailey didn’t get a spring camp and non conference games to play mop up duty in

Shrout is a project.

JG got the job this year out of circumstance. Not because he is some great QB

We play Arkansas, aTm, and Auburn the next 3 games. All three are toss up games now.
We're 2-3 Pruitt needs to win all three of those games.

We’re in year 3 of the rebuild, but it feels like the project manager is excited because the blueprints are about to be sent to the printer. Forget about pouring a foundation or actually building something.

Five year rebuild, ten year rebuild. Doesn’t really matter. We can’t afford to buy out another coach so we have to let Pruitt stick out his contract AND he just got an extension. Might as well strap in and hope for the best.

I have been telling ppl this for a while and they still cm on here whining like we were supposed to compete with Bama or UGA. We're on the way but no where near where we need to be to contend. In yr 5 that will be the true measuring stick.

Then how about we just stop using Dabo as any comparison then? People can't use him as some "Should they have let him go after 3 years" example, then say his success was different because it was the ACC. You can't have it both ways.

Nice illustration. Fulmer gave Pruitt an extension.. basically telling the fanbase to buckle up and brace for impact.

Because we told Martinez and Penix to get lost. Because we took a guy in Shrout that had more INTs than TDs in high school. Because we slow played Sam Howell so we could get Brian Maurer. Because Pruitt looked at our QB depth chart and thought there was no reason to go after a grad transfer. The circumstances are all manufactured by idiotic coaching decisions.

WR: Palmer and Johnson have been the top targets. Both Butch guys.

TE: Austin Pope was the top guy. Now that he is hurt it’s Princeton Fant. Both Butch recruits.

OL is mostly Pruitt’s outside of Trey, but I think Trey and Riley are the only two Butch OL left.

This is the truth. So many emotional posters here firing shots at everybody. We still have a long way to go with players, culture and with this year of craziness expectations are through the roof but need to be tempered. I for one would love to see some changes at critical positions but yesterday’s loss was a function of different variables. My hope would be to prepare, practice, and play for the future. The bye week will give us more practice than Spring ball and nearly a quarter of Fall camp...think about that.

I'd settle for clearing the dead wood off the staff and paying the bucks for proven QB, OL and Secondary developers. That's the problem though. Admin has always tried to rebuild on the cheap. Hasn't worked in 12 years and doubtful it will giving JP another 2 or 3.
Pony up like you did in B Ball Phil or be content with more SUCK.

I’m not trying to use it both ways - just injecting a little reality into the discussion. If you don’t think the void of elite teams in the ACC when Dabo resurrected Clemson is relevant than you’re just not thinking.

IMO, Pruitt has failed miserably in two most critical areas of being a head coach, 1) hiring quality assistants and 2) motivating your team to play above their talent level.

Otherwise he’s fine.

I never said it wasn't relevant; what I said was then don't use Dabo as a comparison at all. Because if one is starting with "Should Clemson have fired Dabo after he went 6-7 his 3rd (actuallly 2nd full) year?" and ending with "Yeah he won the division his 2nd (actually 1st full) year and the ACC his 4th (actually 3rd full) because the ACC was weak", then yeah you are kinda trying to have it both ways.

So you’re saying Pruitt’s recruiting is lacking?

The getting blown out by Kentucky thing is what is really disappointing about the way this year has played out, I can live with the Georgia and Alabama outcomes.

Again, I never made the argument you suggested I made so I’m not trying to have anything both ways. I don’t know how good of a coach Dabo is but he definitely can recruit and that’s a critical part of success in college football.
