This has always been a 5 year rebuild

Which was his actual 2nd season as HC; his first actual season he won his divison. His actual 3rd year as HC they won the ACC.

His interim season as head coach was 7 games. He was 34 games in after his second full season as head coach. He was basically in year 2.5-3 seasons as head coach when he went 6-7 and the entire Clemson fan base was melting down.

Just saying if the barometer is “2-4 years max”, why the fuss over Pruitt who is 2.5 seasons into the job. I personally have a longer leash with Pruitt than some others. I don’t think anyone is right or wrong. Just won’t see me making huge judgement on him until after game 10

He probably will get a minimum of 5 years regardless since he got the extension. Unless he magically changes on JG this season, a good QB is set for next year, and they cause some upsets, he’s shown nothing yet that he may work out or even be a decent coach.

Just where the hell are we supposed to be in two years? I can't see that much improvement over two years ago.

I think the extension plus Covid causing financial shortfall keeps Pruitt here till 2022 season. I personally will holdout until then if he shakes things up and starts playing for the future in regards to the QB position. Since this is a free year, I think throw Bailey to wolves as starter on Monday and let him have 3 weeks with a game vs Arkansas to prep for A&M

By all means, let's fire Pruitt, the first real football coach we have had since Fulmer. We can give all future coaching hires a 2-year contract with the expectation they win the national championship within those two years or they are gone. Good luck with that.

Apparently they don't make "real football" coaches like they used to.

This is BS. Starting to look just like Jones's tenure. By year 5 there won't be any decent recruits left to rebuild with.. You can't continue to get your doors blown off and keep screaming this is a long term rebuild.. People stop buying it and your recruiting falls too far off..

The whole team played with better effort.

Pruitt’s recruits are the best players on the field.

This has always been a 5 year rebuild.

A negaVol like me shouldn’t have to talk you off the ledge. Give Pruitt more time.

I agree, but the lack of visible progress (actually, regression) and the continued boneheaded mistakes (penalties, out of position, etc.) makes it hard to swallow. We weren’t even remotely competitive in the last two games. Decisive losses against GA or Bama wouldn’t have been unexpected. Getting humiliated like we’re a poorly coached high school team is.

That’s why it’s hard to keep believing. We’ve been in a 5 year rebuild for 15 years now.

Dabo when 19-15 in his first 34 games (2 full seasons / 1 interim season) before getting to 10 wins in year 4 and Clemson is arguably the top elite program outside of Bama.

Not saying Pruitt is the next Dabo but you can't say it takes 2-4 years TOPs and then go psycho on Pruitt when he is 15-15 in his first 30 games (2.5 seasons) as head coach.

Dabo only coached half a season in his interim year, on a team bad enough to fire the coach mid season. His 3rd year as the actual person running the program the won the ACC Championship game over a top 5 Va Tech team.

Dabo went 9-5 in year 2 and 10-4 in year 4. Your argument is null and void.

Pruitt can improve as a head coach as he goes but the huge thing is you can only sell hope and playing time to recruits so long. You can loss to Georgia, Bama, Florida if you show some fight and progress. We’ve shown nothing. Hell we’ve been blown out by Kentucky and lost to Georgia State. Is there anyway in hell you can sell that as progress to a recruit?

I would love to see Pruitt be successful but at this point he’s a dead man walking imo. He has recruited well enough to be the guy for the future but his results haven’t been worth a damn and recruiting in the future will take a hit bc of it. He needed to show progress; make it close versus elite teams and beat the teams he should win against. He hasn’t and it sucks bc now we’re faced with another slow bleed then a cluster F of another coaching search that our incompetent program is famous for.

What is the reasonable expectation? Getting us to being clearly at the top of mid tier of the East by year 3, not being embarrassed by UGA , UF and Bama. We aren't there. Won't be surprised if Arky runs it all over us.

Not too sure it looks like Tennessee is only one season or so away.

Looking at the last few weeks......it may be a 5 year job......from right now.

Soon?

You act like he took over for 2 games as interim. He coached the majority of the season in his interim year. He had 34 games under his belt going on 3rd year with title of head coach.

You are either very young or very old if you do not remember Clemson going baths!t crazy after Dabo going 6-7 in his 3rd season running the team.
