This might be a dumb question, but do you have to be sore after a workout to get gains?

I'll be having to do my 225 lb. bench reps max in a little over a month now.
Do any of y'all know any kind of bench regiment I can get on that would improve my reps of 225 on the bench?
I tried to looks something up, but I really couldn't find much. I know apparently it is done to judge the "stamina" of your muscle or at least that's what I read. But regardless I'm trying to improve on last year so if any of y'all have heard of any kind of training regiment for that I would greatly appreciate giving me the heads up. TIA.
Just start lifting 225lbs... Even if you can only do three reps, you'll get used to it and do more before long.
Try doing max reps with a little bit heavier weight. Try using bands & doing high reps.

High reps...I can do that. Thanks for the advice.
Bands....I don't know. Seems pretty cool, but I'm not sure if the gym (The Rush) I go to has them. I've never seen them anywhere. I've seen chains..Would they work?

WS4SB, the workout I posted earlier, would have been perfect for you.
What is your teams off season training like?
