Serious question: why does everybody take workout supplements? Trying to get real big or what??

For me, energy. I'm dead tired after sitting in class 8 hours and caffeine just doesn't do it for me. NO gives me good energy and gets me through my workout.

Do you mean PRE-workout supplements or any supplements for working out (protein, creatine, etc)? As far as pre-workouts go, I take them for energy, and hopefully a good pump, to have a better workout. If you find one that works for you, you won't have many bad days.

Good deal or not guys?
I bought a 6lb tub of muscle milk powder for $24.00. Is that a good deal?

Amazing deal right there. Muscle Milk isn't my favorite because it's got a relatively high fat content, but man it tastes good and mixes easy. I'm still on ON though.

I take pre-workout NO type stuff for the energy thing too. I'm a junior at university going full time and work freight 35-40 hours a week and am dead tired. Pre-workouts work better than straight caffeine, i.e. a Rockstar or whatever. They're not proven by FDA or anything, but it is generally accepted that most of them do make a slight increase in strength, as well as improvement of vasodilation (vein expansion and blood flow i.e. what causes "pumps") which is key for weight training.

The only other thing I take is creatine which is basically scientifically proven to aid in muscle recovery and improvement athletic performance in 45-90 second bursts during a workout. Creatine is also mixed in with most pre-workout supps.

The last thing is protein shakes... Self-explanatory. These should be a staple for anybody with any sort of active lifestyle IMO.

Because if you are going to work hard in the gym, you might as well do your best to maximize results. Does that answer the question?

Did 3 sets of dumbell flys, 3 sets of dumbbell bench, 3 sets concentration curls, 3 sets barbell curls, and 4 sets of Overhead tricep extensions. Felt great.

Muscle milk is alright but you can find a better product.

I have been taking Jack3d and really like the product. Amazing size difference in my arms and chest last night after the workout. Makes me feel like the Kool Aid man, ready to break through a wall. I have been using Syntha6 and Lean Dessert Protein from BSN.

One thing I did not miss about taking any NO product...was the NO dumps. You guys know what I'm talking about.

Syntha-6. There isn't MUCH difference in any protein. I got big taking nitro-tech, contrary to so many people saying they didn't like it.

I gotcha, I have never really taken anything consistently in my years of working out. I got protein my senior year of football, and I never could tell if it was helping or not.

It's mostly marketing. Just a decent bit of research told me that I don't get enough, but almost any would do what I need. The big deal was when you take it and dosage. The body can basically absorb 10g per hour and anything else becomes waste. Bottom line was use within 20 minutes of workout completion, use between meals so body can absorb and use before bed to let your body use it. None of it is magic, but there are more efficient ways to use it.
