The Weightlifters Thread

Ha! Ha! Ha! Baker with a "line of reasoning"! Ha! Ha! Ha!

You're bodybuilding idols, many of them even, wake up every three hours to eat a meal. You need to call those guys and inform them that they're to dense to understand your "line of reasoning". Or do you have a sleep "formula" too?

You finally got me...oh wait, no you didn't. At no time did I say you have to get all 8-10 hours in succession.

Nice amendment. "Oh yeah, what I meant was..." Spent all your time in those statistic classes and none in debate?

I didn't amend anything. You are welcome to check my posts. That's how I caught you.

Yok3d is legit! Way more pump than any other I've tried. I didn't take a PWO to make sure. I wish I looked this ripped all the time.

I've dropped 10lbs in one month of going to the gym. I expect to lose 10lbs a month, at least, for the next 4 months, especially since cycling season is around the corner. I cut about 50lbs two summers ago just cycling alone...then gained half of it back in the winter. I have a goal of 205 by August, I'm at 235-ish right now.

The only changes to my diet so far have been no fast food and very little soda.

10 a month is a good pace.

I don't drink a lot of soda either, but when I do I make sure to pour some Crown in it, that makes it healthy.

Though if you do a carb-depleted diet you can lose 5-10 lbs a week fairly easily. I don't know how healthy it is, but it makes me look awesome in just 2 weeks.

I think we can settle on not at all. 10-12 lbs a month is what most would consider an ideal and healthy track for weight loss.

I love my carbs, otherwise I'd cut a major portion. I'm just looking to cut as much weight as possible, and 10lbs a month sounded about right.

I'm going to begin working on a high intensity interval regimen.

More than 2 a week on average is both not healthy and very likely to come back on even if you ease off your diet just a bit. As well as muscle loss.

Basically, if you want to drop lb's then figure two a week then how much you want to drop, then you will know how long it should take, then you can work out a diet.

IMO lbs is the wrong way to look at it, the approach should be dropping BF% and body composition.

+1. I don't even own a scale. I can look in the mirror and also tell by how I feel. People get caught up in numbers. I focus on getting in better shape, not losing weight.

I have a question for discussion. If you were forced to listen to one album repeatedly for lifting/working out, what would be your go to music? Mine would be a tie between Mudvayne's Lost and Found album and DMX's It's Dark and Hell is Hot. Your thoughts?

Kenny G. Songbird jacks me up!

Actually I listen to LL Cool J's greatest hits.

Recently I've been listening to Eminem's newest album a lot during training.

I've probably listened to Pink Floyd's Animals more than anything else at the gym, though.

I think the standard is 8 lbs, BTW.

It seems you would be right. I was doing the math with 5 weeks a month for some reason. When I was first going through a lot of weight loss I was losing ~10-12 per month, and that slowed as I had less weight to lose.

I also agree that people are way too focused on the numbers. As long as you're feeling better and your clothes are fitting better you are doing something right. The mirror test should do the bulk of the talking.
