The VN workout thread!

Ran the Memphis 1/2 marathon last month. It was freezing! Couldn't have gotten warmer than 40, but the wind in the morning made it seem like 30

Monday- chest and back
Tuesday- shoulders and triceps
Wednesday- legs and biceps
Thursday- off
Friday- Chest, shoulder, tri
Saturday- legs, back, bi
Sunday- off

I lift for size mainly, doing 3 sets of 6 reps with heavy weights

Diet is a lot of protiens, limited carbs and sweets

This routine works very well for me.

I have a Bowflex and the Bowflex select dumbbells for days I can't make the gym, and I can get an excellent workout for everything except legs at home.

I'm not much of a cardio guy. I'm lazy. I will run a couple of times on a treadmill, use the Gazelle, and swim a lot in the summer.

i see you do a split, have you put on any muscle with this?

also why in the heck do you have sweets in your diet. ya u'll gain weight but i'm sure it's not the weight u want

That's too cold for a long run. Ouch.

Yea add to it that I wasn't supposed to run since they had maxed out their quota, but a friend couldn't make it so I used his registration stuff. I found out he wasn't going to make it Friday night at about 9, after I had just done a leg workout and ran 3.5 miles. Made for a fun Saturday morning! Made it in 1hr 50 min though, definitely could do better on fresh legs.

Anybody ever hired a personal trainer?

I've just done everything on my own. And it worked well. But it's hard to stay motivated lately. I constantly question what I'm doing, and can't commit to a schedule. It's frustrating.

nope, if you know what you are doing, you just need to find yourself a workout partner. If you do that, then you'll have another reason to go to the gym, and they will help you stay motivated as well.

I'm thinking about becoming a personal trainer with some massage therapy...but not sure about getting the clients...:ermm:

That's the best thing. I don't like working out with someone, but I know if I have it scheduled to meet a friend at a gym, or go with them to the gym, then I get my workout done because I definitely am not the one to break the plans!

Yeah but it makes it hard too when the other person is the one that always seem to cancel.

personal trainers make a killing

that's what i hear...but finding work is what's gonna scare me away. Because any other job you work for a company and are promised pay...of course you can always work for a gym, but i hear you make more money working on your own...:scare:

I don't go to a gym. I workout at home. And for the most part, I know what I need to do and what worked. Alternate cardio and strength training (high reps low weight). I've just gotten bored with the whole routine over the last several months. I work out right after hubby leaves for work in the mornings, but lately I've allowed myself to skip it here and there til I don't have the intensity I used to.

yup, i have that problem now. I workout with a buddy for a couple days a week and then the rest we're on our own. Finding someone that has the same goals as you and is as determined as you, will go the furthest.

I know what you mean volly. I walked 3 miles on the days that I didn't use an elliptical trainer. But everyday I would do stomach crunches and lift my arm weights and I could tell a huge difference but then I started to kind of lax and then never got back into it!
