Presumably a move to counter ISIS and Iranian influence in Syria. Politics sucks because it makes strange bedfellows, at home and elsewhere. It’s suspect for a lot of reasons and I would rather us not be part of it. Maybe let all those parties fight it out, but you had to know the US would try to gain some level of leverage in Syria.

Oh the US has been arming ISIS through Saudi as well.

but you had to know the US would try to gain some level of leverage in Syria.

Sure, go to bed with ISIS and Al Qaeda that killed 1,000s of Americans so you can bring down another group of bad guys - the syrian goverment. Now pay them, and rinse and repeat.

Precisely. You sit on the sidelines and throw **** at those that actually do something.... annnnnnd insult those that actually applaud the results.

If you slit your own throat you expect to me to have an answer for you? I don't, but it was nice knowing you.

Maybe you should have thought about it before you slit your own throat. Best I got at this point - I'm just a person 🤷‍♂️

So now we're listening to the UN? If so a couple other threads in here are about to get spicy

How many other bad guys need to be taken out? Do they have oil too?
It was just a place for you to go and educate yourself on some evil.

Ok so they did allow the elected leader to take power?
If we installed the opposition, people would scream regime change! But more importantly, the country would have descended into to chaos. Our actions put the regime in a slightly worse position and the opposition in a slightly better position. We will see how things play out. Maybe incremental regime change is the answer.

and not a very smart one. But your arrogance makes up for it.

Things will calm down eventually, the e-mail server will be back up at some point and the government will explain to them the new Orange plan. If they just all work together, and once the 10s of billions of dollars come in to fund their infrastructure, and in like 20 years when they are pumping a whole bunch of oil... they'll all be rich.

What's $10-20T between friends anyway?

So was he the worst or just the most convenient with some oil? Who is next and when does it end?

This is simply not our fight and frankly should be illegal if our govt didn't give up

We went in because of the election right? If that was fraudulent wouldn't the correct move be to install the elected party? Instead they were skipped because of a stupid medal. This is nothing but an illegal ego driven oil grab

A heavy price is going to have to be paid in the future.

I think there is more to this than that, but I think its alright to have that opinion. I question the move at this time, but things might be more clear in the not too distant future.

I told people on his second day, they better buckle up -- this in particular I didn't know about though.

Everyone believes they’re on the side of “greater good” or “lesser evil”.

Its a tough one here if it goes a certain direction -- you get into the ends justify the means.

To be honest, I was not thinking he would be this blunt about it. Makes me think, time is short here. We'll see.

I haven’t heard anyone say we went in primarily because of the election, certainly not me. Per my previous post I think we went in (1) to exercise influence over strategic resources, (2) to make the point that the US intends to be the dominant power in the Americas not China, and (3) to make some modest improvement to the Venezuelan mess.

True. That is what the Ukrainians keep saying. If only the goat herders got the message.

Ukrainians are definitely showing that, being out numbered and all. What year is this war in now btw? And I don't mean road side bombs, suicide vests, ect....I mean trench warfare...real war. We could still be occupying Afghanistan right now and there would be nothing the Taliban could do about it either other than a small hit here and there. They could never dislodge us militarily on the battlefield. They would just die by the scores.

Trump and Rubio have laid it out in a very clear and concise manner, I don't think anyone is confused. Iran appears on deck again.
