You are correct, but I am torn on the subject. Either way, I continue to underestimate the Orange bastard.
I don't think he would have done this with another election in front of him. Even his most avid supporters on cable news are acknowledging the risk here. There are many scenarios this can go sideways and result in a protracted American occupation.

You can't reconcile this approach to Venezuela with Trump's 2016 campaign rhetoric concerning foreign policy.

A denial of that isn't reasonable.
Have you changed your mind on anything in the last 10 years have you ever seen evidence so compelling that you had to change your position? Saying things like this is very unrealistic.

Trump Again Issues Veiled Regime Change Threat: "Make Iran Great Again" | ZeroHedge

Make Greenland Great Again

This is kind of fun. We should probably just go down the alphabet of countries.

Syria
Venezuela

Iran
Cuba
Greenland
Canada
Mexico
....

To be honest, the U.S. should start back up at the top with Afghanistan.
We’ve been practicing this in Memphis and DC. I’m hoping our training will pay off and we conquer the western hemisphere. The United Americas, has a ring to it. Mexico will be renamed Meximerica and all beautiful women are free to cross the border into America.

If he continues to do what it appears is going on, I would think the next election is the least of everyone's concerns.

I think you have brought up some valid points, which I am torn on how to feel.

Trump's foreign policy mantra of isolationism and non-interventionist rhetoric had a lot to do with his meteoric rise in popularity in 2015. The MAGA crowd ate it up.

It's hard to make sense of what the United States foreign policy stands for right now. It's chaotic as hell.

The "MAGA crowd" rightfully ate up the talk of getting out of foreign entanglements, but I'm not sure I've ever heard Trump mention being an isolationist.

Having said that, it is beyond disturbing to see images like this. One of the primary reasons I was wholeheartedly behind him in 2016 was precisely to avoid being tied in with cretinous scum like Lindsay Graham.

I see this picture and ask what the hell happened to that guy? Rhetorically, of course, as he seems to have sold his soul to the exact people who ran him out of office with the scamdemic and 2020 election steal.

I think the typical Trump voter is probably feeling a little bit like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole...

Shows a willingness to act. The complete opposite of Biden when he said he didn’t know if he would act if Russia invaded Ukraine, and within about a week Russia took him up on it.

Listen to yourself.

You imply that Russia invaded Ukraine because Biden said he did not know what he would do if they did.

Trump has refused to commit to defending Taiwan.

By your reasoning, that is open invitation to China to invade.

Trump doesnt do anything flashy unless its to distract from something else. Fact. Opinion. Fact

This is also laying the groundwork for his third term, if he can physically make it that long. His Venezuela presser was worse than anything Biden ever did. Dudes got some problems.
fify (twice)

Actually, I have reconsidered this and I think you are right. He does do flashy things to get you leftists to bite on something else. Ya'll are like an angry, hungry fish and Trump is trolling you with shiny bait. You are so fixated on it that you miss the rest of the world going by. The only problem is that you have one thing that you 'care' about and that is the Epstein files (But interestingly enough, you didn't GAS about them as recently as 12 months ago). So what is next on the agenda for you? Free Maduro?

And Soetoro had a third term, why not Trump?

Trump is held to a completely different standard than any leftist politician.

I just gave a potential avenue of doing so. And your idea of "reasonable" is tainted to the point of meaningless.

It's notable that you posted this hand waving as opposed to the requested actual quotes that would paint Trump into the corner your imagination has otherwise put him in.

What? Taiwan, the ROC, was never under British control in any meaningful way. it was never scheduled to be given to the PRC. the PRC has literally never controlled Taiwan, they have no claim to Taiwan except a war that went cold without being resolved.

The ROC has always been independent.
ROC and PRC both used to claim they were the rightful government of all China. ROC's dropped their claim but as we know PRC hasn't.

I agree with that. However, the one wild card factor with Trump is he's likely to say one thing and then a week later, he's bombing nuclear sites in the middle of the night.

I don't think Trump wants to defend Taiwan, but I also don't think he is the appeasement personality with China.

With Biden and traditional dems, they want to appease their way to foreign policy fights....

You always knew where Biden was going to stand and what his course of action would be. Not necessarily the same with Trump. Not that I'm taking sides here.

The "typical Trump voter". You mean like the "typical Democrat voter" who felt the same way as the party lurched to the far left after Obama's arrival and went the full monty during Biden's alleged term?

Yes. Everyone is under the false impression that this isn't typically how the U.S. operates -> now everyone is faced with the truth.
