The SEC is trying to form a super-conference with the ACC and Big12

It's deja vu all over again.

The virus starts up North and West, and people down South are like "No big whoop! We'll be fine!".
Now look where people are dying in droves.

Then football was cancelled up North and West, and people down South are like "No big whoop. We'll be fine!"
Guess where people will be dying in droves this Fall.

There's no fixing stupid.

Please anoint that fool Clay Travis (Betting Handicapper / Epidemiologist) as your "CV19 Hoax King" for life, sit back, and watch it all burn down.
I can’t say if I agree or disagree with this post MP. You make a few points but I do not agree entirely , mainly that “people will be dying in droves” from COVID alone with no preexisting conditions complicating their condition . I also don’t thinK that the SEC having a football season in limited capacity or no spectator venues will move the needle on deaths attributed strictly to COVID19.

I did notice that you reference the fact that “Dorothy Mantooth is a saint”. I think that all of VN can agree with that statement !

Fine with that. How does it save the season that's supposed to start in less than a month?
You're exactly right, the top 50 football programs are going to form their own deal. Sorry Vanderbilt, Tulane, Rutgers, Wake Forest and others. This will be a league governed by their own rules.

This may just be a move for regional play between these conferences without the conferences that have already tapped out.

Bubba Gump Shrimp! If PAC 12, Big 10 & others play politics and bow out,... the SEC (and others who remain strong) get all the gold.

Why? I thought the goal was to play a conference only schedule? What does it matter what the other conferences are doing if you play a conference only schedule? I thought that was the entire point of it

I thought the same thing, sec play if we are the only conference playing, it certainly could do nothing but good for sec if that happened. We don't need the other conferences to play if we only playing sec games this year.

What I believe will end up happening is that all football will be cancelled. No university or conference wants to be the one to get a player killed for profit. It would permanently ruin their reputation in the nation and media. Recruits would begin to look elsewhere to play college football if they feel like the conference doesnt have their back.

Imo they would want to go where they get to play. Most of the players want to play. Sec plays it will just strengthen the conference.

Honest question: How is it ok for schools to bring students back to classrooms, but sports are too much?

It's called political decisions. Imo there is a greater chance of a player getting seriously injured than being hurt by covid

As a public health official still presumably with a job and regular paycheck, do you understand all of this "we need to be absolutely 100% certain no one will ever get infected by Covid-19" approach has destroyed people and will continue to do so until some reasonable balance is reached?

Those who are making decisions to shut things down should have their pay check stopped and see if they see things different.

If they are cancelling football over a respiratory illness that seems to not have a huge risk for 20 somethings, how do they continue with clearly documented risk of CTE?

The Big12 are liars. They only have 10 member schools. They lack equal footing with the ACC & SEC. The SEC & ACC should dictate terms. If the B12-2 don't like it, they can join the "G6" in the post-covid-19 world.
