Its a zero sum game. There can be only one. Any hangers-on will just get snapped up by another conference that you'll have to eventually destroy and absorb anyway. Better to take them now than to fight over them later.

If the idea is to form a conference in order to play this year, then I don't see how it's necessary to form a "super-conference." Each conference has already built a plan to play. Those that decide it's safe enough to do so will do so, and those that don't will not. Banding together a month out isn't going to change anything. There are too many issues to overcome. Those discussions would have needed to take place months ago.

Watering down the depth wouldn't hurt. The SEC is the deepest conference, IMO. Sure, teams like Oklahoma and Clemson would be in the superconference, but so would teams like Kansas and Boston College.

What I believe will end up happening is that all football will be cancelled. No university or conference wants to be the one to get a player killed for profit. It would permanently ruin their reputation in the nation and media. Recruits would begin to look elsewhere to play college football if they feel like the conference doesnt have their back.

I hope this was intended to be blue font. The virus would immediately "be under control" depending on the outcome of the election. So few understand the vaccine will only help those who don't need it.

Just a thought but for this particular year it could be that none of those conferences want to play unless the others do and instead of making individual decisions to not play at all which eventually backs whoever holds out into a corner, it comes off better if they band together.
