The Official Rick Barnes discussion thread

I'd love to see Rick take us to our first Final Four AND pass Ray Mears for most wins with 279 (27 away)
This. We are peaking at the right time and have a very balanced and dangerous team. I've wanted CRB to get it done here and build out his resume to shut-up all the haters/ignorant parts of our fanbase. Maybe that's why I freaked out with JP's injury and the Vandy game where they "let us" hang around - we were starting to see the development of this team heading into March.

The positive is with Felix, Brown, Carey and even Ament you can not only compete but win why JP gets right for a March run.

Burg being able to come in and play 12-15 good minutes of ball along with Evans adding 16-20 himself allows this team to have some flexibility to the lineup.

I'd love to see Ja'Kobi/Ament both have a game or two where they can play 32 or less minutes and we win...but may just not be possible.

The offense takes a massive dip when JG is not out there so I think for all of March he'll be averaging probably around 35 minutes a game.

Agree in general hence my game post. Brown's continued dev and BB's willingness to be aggressive on offense is a must. JG turning teams over is a huge & recent development which needs to continue.

Carey will continue to be limited and dependent on match-ups imo but def gives us depth and min if/when foul trouble happens. Other than the risk of JP having to shut it down or play at X%, my biggest worry is that refs swallow their whistle with Ament and allow even more physical play against him.

Yeah... really if 3 of Bishop, Evans, Felix, Carey, Burg can give you 35+ a game...you should win most games. Assuming Ament/Ja'Kobi get the 36+ they average together.

Carey is the best rebounder on the team he can help us win games even if he's not scoring 10 points. We also still have Abram/Troy in the mix...at some point I think both will contribute in a game or two where Burg or Bishop is struggling.

Carey's reb stats are a bit misleading imo and have to be recast to account for all of his Rodman rebounds (Edit: O-rebs that is) but he def gives us much needed post depth esp if JP is limited/out. Really, really love Brown getting more minutes going forward...Evans also to a lesser degree though. Agree Felix and BB have to stay out of foul trouble. Hopefully Burg can continue to contribute - rooting for him.

Carey has 164 total rebounds, 77 offensive rebounds and 87 defensive. He's played 504 minutes.
Ament leads the team with total rebounds at 176, 44 offensive and 132 defensive. He's played 826 minutes.

"mebounds" or not I'd much rather Carey grabbing them than the other team...Felix has 20 less rebounds and has played 141 more minutes. Bishop has 41 less rebounds while playing 114 more minutes

Even looking at per 40 it's Carey, JP & then a fairly good drop to Brown...then everyone else is in that 8-9 range

Thanks for pulling the numbers...hadn't looked in awhile but thought it was more skewed a 2-3 wks ago.

Roy has 9 final fours and 3 national championships.

I know you are going to say it's a lot easier to win at Kansas and UNC, but still, those numbers speak for themselves
You read my mind. Didn't know it would be you, but I too, knew that would be a response. Not once did Roy have to resurrect a program from obscurity to national relevance.

Roy also coached at blue bloods. Also I am not sure Roy always followed the rules. All things being equal, it is hard not to take Barnes.
