The Official Lakers Thread

Russell Westbrook looks to be in playoff form again. Shot 3 for 22. OutKobe'd Kobe (9/26).

Stern knows that cutting him out of the post season will hurt him that much worse. The only thing that gives me reservation about that is if stern gives deference to the cash cow that is the Lakers franchise and wants to give them the best shot possible to advance in the playoffs. But I think he'll drop the hammer.

I do not see how he cannot suspend him indefinitely for such a horrible act.

Artest is one of the strongest individuals in the NBA and he did not hold back on that elbow. If his elbow catches Harden in the temple, Harden may not get up from the floor.

Let us not forget that all of these major sports pride themselves on being "family" entertainment. While a marketing term, i.e. hollow statement, they still know the importance of keeping their sport clean from both cheating/corruption/gambling and inexplicable violent acts.

There's something wrong with Artest. It's obvious the guy is not all there. There's some serious mental gaps that go along with and/or explain his total lack of good judgement.

If the elbow doesn't contact the head, he probably doesn't even get suspended, that's what's so crazy about these sorts of incidents.

He ****ing smashed Harden's ass!!!! Funnier every time I see it. No way he did not see him there. -- If it was Durant that got hammered then MWP would be out all season.

And Durant's career would be over

He put that elbow up high. He knew what he was doing.

I think he did, but once again his brain had left earth for a few moments and he unleashed hells fury on JH.

That being said, I'm glad you're a Vol fan and all, but cheers to no team from Texas ever making to any kind of post-season again. Go VOLS. Go LAKERS.

Three cheers for the best franchise in pro sports. The only franchise to defeat aids!!!

F the haters. Lakers4Life.

Not even the best franchise in the NBA...hard to compete with the Yankees/Red Wings as far as major American teams.

The Celtics and Lakers account for something like half of ALL NBA championships. Hard to argue with that. They are the two most famous/storied franchises in the game.

True ****.

Wake me up when the Lakers make 20 straight playoff appearances in today's age.

Yeah, but the Lakers have never really ever had a bad stretch. The C's have had stretches of many years where they didn't make the playoffs.

Little steep, but FWIW the Lakers have only missed the playoffs five times in the history of their existence.

It's very impressive. But to make 20 straight playoffs, in today's day, in any sport, is crazy.

This is why I think the basketball establishment is retarded. This is data on Kobe's shot selection. He's least efficient from 16-22 feet, but that's where the largest number of shots are coming from...by a huge margin. You'd think one of the basketball geniuses he's surrounded by would tell him to take more 3's and less turnaround jumpers with a hand in his face.

Getting beat by Nashville in the 1st round is still funny for the wings though

We still got four cups in the last fifeteen years.

I'm not a die hard (though I do follow the team and watch whenever I can), but they overachieved this season. They got to get a couple younger defenseman and a wing scorer.
