The Official Denver Broncos Thread

This is the best team in the NFL right now. They're probably going to finish 13-3 and if the Pats lose tonight, they're in the drivers seat for a first round bye.

The Pats loss last night was huge for Broncos and Peyton. At home, I like his odds against the Pats. Texans have looked vulnerable in the last month and I am not convinced they will make it to Championship round.

I'd have to say that the Seahawks are the "best team in the NFL right now". They look very solid and have played lights-out 'ball the past two weeks---granted against AZ & Buffalo, this weeks gm against SF (@ hm, should be explosive---fireworks) will offer a better/truer assessment.

Broncos and Seahawks are not the best teams. Broncos can win it all, but let's be honest they haven't really beat anybody. They lost to the 3 great teams they played.

I'd like to see the Broncos play those teams now. The defense and offense are both much better than they were then.

Yes but those three loses were within their first five games, and they lost each game by only 10 or less. It was clearly going to take some time to get Peyton in synch with the Broncos.

Since game 5, they've been improving weekly. So while those were arguably the best teams they've played all year, the Broncos are getting hot at the right time.

It's been an amazing thing to see, and I have LOVED having Peyton at the helm here in Colorado. Peyton has been playing extremely well but what's so remarkable is the way he consistently makes those around him better, and I'm not just talking about his fellow players. I'm talking about the entire organization.

Go Broncos!

I think the Broncos are playing better. Much better is a stretch, their competition has just gotten weaker. But they have slowed down the fumbling, the WR rapport is better, and the defensive depth/rotation has improved.

They are in the top tier, but where they are at in the top tier is debatable.

I think naturally the Broncos are better today than they were in September, but it's hard to tell how much better when they've mostly seen mediocre competition. That's all I'm saying.

NEs division isnt exactly tough either, and it hasnt been for years -

I like Denver's chances of winning it all. They host Cleveland and KC to wrap up the reg season, one win (should win both) gives them hm field throughout the playoffs.

In the NFC, don't sleep on Seattle they're playing good 'ball atp---Pete Carroll has them believing, each of their losses including their last two hm gms---St. L (6pts) and SF (7pts) were close. Seattle could finish 11-5, if so, they'll become my Cinderella / upset special in the NFC playoffs.

Don't they need both wins, assuming NE doesn't lose again? Finishing 1-1 would likely put them in a tie with NE, who beat them head-to-head.

Houston wins out they hold home field throughout regardless.

Wk 16 scenarios:
Houston - a win and a loss (or tie) by Denver and NE secures home field
Denver - a win and NE loss (or tie), Denver gets a 1st rd bye

Denver wins out and Houston loses out makes Denver the #1 seed. I don't see Houston losing to both MN and Indy, but NE could split the final two giving Denver the #2 seed and bye.

I don't care so much about Houston...I think the real key is to make sure the Broncos don't play at New England.

Agreed about NE at home, but I'm still worried about Houston. Their running game, play action offense is still a bad matchup for us. Also, their defense is still top notch. There is a good chance regardless that Denver will face NE in the second round.

The playoffs are always hard. But with the AFC being so top heavy this year, it seems particularly harder.

I love the addition of Hester. We had been terrible running on 3rd and 1, and he brings that toughness.

Manning's 4th 10-game winning streak. MVP is between him and AP, right now.

Part of me thinks Manning is irked by the Chargers besting him in the past. I think he wanted to get 2 shots per year at revenge. He dominated them, and the 21 point comeback reversed their fortune this year. Nice start to the renewal of the rivalry.

Probably depends on where Denver ends up in the playoff standings and/or whether or not Minnesota makes the playoffs (if AP only gets 2000 yards, not the record)

If AP only makes if over 2,000 and the Vikes miss the playoffs, past history has to suggest the MVP would be Manning's

I'd give it to AP.

if they make the playoffs and/or he breaks the record, easily

if not, gets iffy...he still could get it, but they've seemingly been less fans of "league's best player" not being on a playoff team...even with 2,000 yards rushing

Kansas City Chiefs (2-13) at Denver Broncos (12-3)
Last March, the Chiefs were dying to get Peyton Manning to visit. They desperately wanted to sell him on their franchise and their great skill players and their chance to win now. But Manning chose the familiarity of so many things in Denver (old Buddy Brandon Stokley lived there and might come back to play, John Elway was the franchise czar, a trusted rehab guy was there, etc.) and so the Chiefs never got in to see him. Kansas City wasn't the only jilted suitor. Seattle wanted in. The Jets too. Nothing. But imagine for a moment if Manning chose the Chiefs. Kansas City, 11-4. Denver, 6-9. And I'd be picking Kansas City to win this game, 31-10.

Peter King's picks. I completely disagree. KC has many problems, and Denver is solid in places that they don't get credit for. Von Miller (with Watt) is on a special tier. But the DBs are improved, the LB core is solid, the O-Line is solid, and the WRs are talented (and it's not just Manning).

Pioli has been a pretty terrible GM.
