The Official Denver Broncos Thread

Love Chris Harris. Tracy Porter would've driven me nuts all year with his riverboat gamblin' style of cornerback play. With Harris you get just as many picks without all the blown coverages.

Denver is in a good position. Beat the Chiefs and earn a first round bye. Get lucky and have the Texans lose, and then you avoid the Texans or Pats atleast until the AFC Championship game at home.

Jamal Lewis wasn't really considered for MVP when he went for 2000 yards.

The biggest reason AP is getting so much consideration is because he came back so quickly from a horrible injury and has absolutely crushed it this year.

6.0 ypc, and 400+ yards more than the next closest guy.

Peyton Manning tied Brett Favre on Sunday for the most games in NFL history with at least three touchdown passes (72).

Peyton Manning was selected to his 12th Pro Bowl this season; only five quarterbacks in NFL history have been selected to nine or more

Manning also set the NFL record for 300 yard games this season. He set a Broncos franchise record for TDs (season, obviously). The San Diego comeback was largest halftime comeback in regular season history, or something (first time 21-0? I can't remember exactly). This dude's just set record after record his entire career.

The only thing that is keeping him from being not arguably the GOAT but THE GOAT is multiple rings. If he wins another, there is no doubt. I still think he is the best ever with or without another ring, but people will always argue that he only won one.

Marino never got to 1. Favre only has 1.

Agreed. I don't think rings matter but its subjective to everyone. Some believe rings mean more. With that logic, Trent Dilfer is better than Dan Marino. Or Terry Bradshaw is better than Peyton Manning.

Rings come into the argument, but the people who think it's a requirement to be an all-time great are completely mistaken. There is way too much going on in a football game to have the expectation that every great QB will win a title, or that you can't be the greatest without multiple titles.

Look at all the guys with 3+ titles:

Brady - all 5 SB appearances with Belichek, only one SB appearance with less-than-great D
Montana - Beneficiary of Walsh's west coast offense, and the greatest WR of all time
Terry Bradshaw - No need to say anything
Troy Aikman - everyone knows it was about the D and the run game

It's an exclusive group, but by no means is it an elite group. I don't think Bradshaw and Aikman are even HOF-worthy. If you can be as mundane as Bradshaw and win 4 super Bowls, what does that say about the accomplishment, and what is required to achieve it? To me it means that a good deal of it is out of the QB's hands.

I'd also like to point out that Brady didn't win any SBs in his prime. He's been a lot better from 2006-present, than he was 2001-2004, yet he has no SBs in recent years.

BTW, if Manning goes to the SB, I believe he'd be the first QB to reach with two different teams, and the first with 3 different coaches. Is that right?

Don't know about the coaches, but Kurt Warner made 2 Super Bowls with the Rams and 1 with the Cardinals.

probably a bunch of backups fall into this category also. Neil O'Donnell at least started in one (Pittsburgh, Super Bowl XXX, Bill Cowher) and as a backup in another (Tennessee, Super Bowl XXXIV, Jeff Fisher)

Yes I admit I switched to this dismal franchise because PM went there -- just as I did with the Colts -- the Colts however, were transformed into an exciting team -- I just dont see it happening in Denver --- PM other choice the Titans are not much better -- Guess I will do as I did last NFL season --- football out on Saturdays and sleep on Sundays

Peyton Manning makes his 12th playoff appearance this season, which ties Brett Favre for the most in NFL history by a starting quarterback.
