The MF'n Finals Thread

Jordan would thrive today for many reasons. #1 Psychologically he was/is far superior than anyone he played against. He could easily talk people out of their game.

#2 In this era he doesn't have to worry about players like Laimbeer, Mahorn, Charles Oakley, Rodman etc..guys who would put you on your rear if you drove the lane. Gone are the days when guys had to earn a basket if they entered the paint. A hard foul today gets you suspended and fined, back then it was just hard play. Imagine LeBron against Detroit or the Knicks back in the late 80's early 90's, he cries for fouls now (not as much as Wade) but most players today cry if you fart in their direction.

#3 The hand checking. Jordan was so good at creating space against his defender and those guys could keep a hand on him. He would be unguardable.

Before I go let me say this, I'm not a huge Jordan fan. Magic was my favorite player but I would love to see the matchup between last years Heat team and Jordan's best Bulls team.

'96 Bulls in 5. Jordan played on better teams.

Lebron gets knocked to the ground all the time and he's bigger than MJ. Yeah the suspensions are stronger today, but the way you phrase it is as if Lebron can play carefree. He's been abused in these playoffs.

Was Jordan getting fouled any harder than this? I agree the game was more physical, but it's not that big of a difference. The biggest difference today is that enforcers can't fight. The suspensions are crazy long. Nobody minds taking a flagrant foul from time to time, and they get away with them. I don't believe a foul was called when Lebron's nose got broken.

Did I say Jordan never complained? I'm not hating on lebron, he's one of the top 3 players ever....I'm just saying with the way the game is played today, Jordan would dominate

Well duh, he dominated in the 80s and 90s, too. Nobody is saying he wouldn't dominate today.

Watch pistons 30 for 30...they would strangle him

People act like hand checking is just some great deterrent that Jordan had to endure and love to spout off that without it he'd score at will.

It's complete nonsense.

Yes cause hand checking is all that I mentioned. A good defensive player can control where a guy goes with a handcheck.

Yes and 10 times a game. Trying to compare how physical todays game is to the 80's or 90's is beyond laughable.

So you're in agreement with this absurd statement? This is what I am disputing.

Like I've said a few times. Jordan's era was more physical, but it's not that different. But the above statement is 100% false. David Lee was not suspended or fined for that flagrant. Did MJ ever get his nose broken?

BTW, do you have a link to footage of MJ getting fouled harder? I would say that David Lee foul is about on par with the carnage of any foul I've seen with Piston on Jordan crime. Bird got the worst individual foul I can remember from the Pistons.

It's not as extreme as he stated, but it is pretty different. Every time you drove back then you had to be aware of certain guys possibly taking your head off. Even if they didn't every time it caused apprehension in drives. You are picking one single incident and trying to equate it to many. It's not even kind of the same.

But here's the thing, I don't agree with the idea that you had to be any more worried about "getting your head taken off". People were looking to foul hard, yes. But if they were looking to take your head off at any opportunity, where is the footage of Jordan getting clubbed in the head? Where is his broken nose?

I think guys foul really hard today, but it's not quite as often and it's just not as violent looking. They are sneakier about it. That's how come Lebron can get his nose broke and not even get the call. Even if it happens less, I'm not sure it worries him any less than it worried Jordan.

Again you are way to focused on one incident. MJ got rag dolled constantly, everyone but you thinks it's easier to drive today. I would feel way more secure driving knowing I might get my nose broke once every ten years vs driving knowing someone is going to knock me on my *** every 4th or 5th drive. If LBJ worries as much about driving now as MJ did then he has problems. Any honest LBJ fan will tell you it's easier for him to drive inside than it was for MJ.

Anyway, who wants to be the first to declare that the Spurs are too old to win it all next year?

And you are too consumed with the highlight footage of MJ getting battered by the Pistons. I guarantee you we could make a pretty impressive video of LBJ getting beat up with just footage from this season.

Really? Point out one single time that I have brought the Pistons up in this discussion. I'll wait.

You didn't bring them up, but you said the Pistons fouled him harder than that David Lee foul, and "10 times" a game. There is no way the highlights from the Bad Boys documentary aren't influencing that absurd statement.

So commenting on something one time equals me consumed with that footage? Lol That's perfectly logical. If I brought them up 4 or 5 times like you have a broken nose you would have an argument. Otherwise you are grasping and assuming, which is a weak argument.

Anyone seen the Wade video that came out? It's about 12 minutes long and highlights his "defense" during this series. It's bad.
