The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Lol they have a thread titled "now would be a good time to schedule depleted UAB"

wow, that is low, that is lower than i thought even Vandy would go.

speaking of low can we set up a Vandy v Havard/Yale game. I got $20s on whoever the other team is. watch them get physically brutalized by people even they would admit are intellectually better than them.

this gem is too good to pass up. From ReadyAbout
I'm cautiously optimistic, but any offensive improvement will be welcome after last year's debacle. As someone pointed out on Twitter, our football team didn't beat anyone by 20+ points, but our baseball team did.

i can only imagine how bad their ticket sales are for this season. They went down drastically last yr and they had a good home slate. This yr they have a lame home schedule and their team is back to its old ways. Gonna be pathetic!

Because if ticket sales are any indication, they don't even know they have a stadium.

Much less where it is.

the only thing i could come up with was because they believe they own the state (criminally laughable statement) that they can count Neyland as home, like we can with Dudley. difference is we can actually back up our talk of owning the state by taking over their field.

eh, they can always count on the other team buying up all their tickets

and their home slate features WKU, Austin Peay, Kentucky and Mizzou lol. So embarrassing that they go down the road to play @ MTSU to be the Blue Raiders Homecoming opponent lol

I hope MTSU can pull out the win. Despite Vandy's suckage, they will be the better team. But MTSU hates Vandy more than we do, so that's gotta count for something.

And Rick Stockstill, as boring and "average" as he might be, should still outcoach Mason.

Hell, Stockstill would actually be a pretty decent hire for Vandy if they can Mason after this year, although I'm not sure Stock wants to subject himself to that team.

My girlfriend is in grad school at Vandy. I dropped her off on campus about 2.5 hours before they played Charleston Southern last season and the campus was an absolute ghost town. There was a small (50 people max) group tailgating on the Blakemore side of campus, but zero activity near the football stadium. NO ONE in Vanderbilt gear, no fans gathered, nothing. It was sad but also hilarious.

Seeing pics tweeted of the crowd at Vandy's home games has been one of my favorite parts of the season and I imagine it will be worse than ever this year--especially if they lose badly to WKU right out of the gate.

Vandy played USCe this past season on the same day as the Dog Day Festival in Centennial Park. You would think playing a decent team like South Carolina would draw a home crowd. I kid you not, there were more dogs in Centennial Park that afternoon than Vandy fans in the area tailgating/just being visible. For those of you who aren't familiar with Centennial Park, it is across the street from Vandy's stadium.

Let's be honest, what coach would? Jimmy Frank came into a team that actually had some talent on it before using it as a springboard to get to a bigger job.

Mason will fall back to a DC somewhere probably.

Other than the money, there is no good reason for a coach to take that program over unless they're moving up from FCS. And even then they likely would only use it the same way Franklin did.

Yeah Vandy is the better team but not by much at all. Its certainly possible that MTSU wins that game at home. Like you said, they will be jacked up and they run the ball pretty well there. Vandy is not the better team when they play WKU and Houston.

I'd really love to see APSU give them a run for their money.

I'd be willing to accept a win against Houston or WKU in order to see the greater embarrassment of losing to the Governors...who am I kidding, I'd like to see an 0-12 season.

i agree. hell, they were lucky they were not 1-11 or 2-10 last yr. A missed 20 yard FG would have won it for UMASS and Charleston Southern had them beat. Theres a decent chance they could be 3-9 again or worse this season. They might improve marginally on Defense but the offense is still an absolute joke. The last 7 games or so could all be consecutive losses. They play South Carolina, Mizzou, Florida, Houston, UK, Texas A&M, and UT to finish the season. They will be underdogs in every game and they could easily lose every single one of those. Florida may not be great but theres no way Vandy will be able to score points against them. Houston always plays great defense and they are just as (if not more) talented across the board. Plus Tom Herman and Todd Orlando will out coach Mason in every way. UT, Carolina, Houston, Ole Miss and Florida are all road games. Theres a reason their O/U win total was set at 3 for 2015.

If you told me I could play at Vandy on scholarship or a high end MAC school or another low end SEC team (KY for instance) I'd take Vandy probably as well. The odds of NFL for college players is almost as small as college for high school players, and if you're so good you're going to the NFL, then as long as its a DI school it really doesn't matter because a scout will find you.

While a degree from Vandy is generally a very good thing to have, it's a bit of a myth that everybody who graduates from there moves right into "CEO training" at a fortune 100 company with designs to retire at 35. Know a kid who went to and got his degree from Vandy....he's now teaching at a middle school in south Williamson county and living with his parents.

College degrees aren't what they used to be from any college, save maybe a law degree from Harvard or a comp sci degree from Stanford.

Agree, but the general thinking seems to be that Vandy is one of the elite, magical institutions whose degree overcomes and opens doors that a degree from the other lesser, peasant schools just won't. In some cases, depending on a specialized major/degree perhaps it will.... in still many more basic, standard, traditional majors, it won't.

I wish I could be in Nashville opening day! See my Vols play and add a bit of orange to the Vandy WKU game. Vandy is not going to know what to do with two hostile fan bases out-tailgating them in their own town.
