The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

they still wouldn't fill up 25,000. i couldn't find information on this season but i doubt they reached that once this year. except in SEC where the other crowd was the main population

I too think that they should list their conference titles from the late 1800's/early 1900's it would put their utter suckiness on full display to everyone outside of the state.

Don Yates thinks Vandy should build a dome for football.

A dome! For Vandy!

Yeah, not exactly something I'd be putting up on a wall.

"Hey folks! We haven't won diddly squat in almost a century!"

And another gem from yates -
DonYates wrote: He ended up with some horrible stats that were worsened by that nightmare game against Ole Miss, a team that at the time most thought was little, if any better than Vandy. Those two pick sixes he gave up are really what he'll be remembered by, unfortunately. Best of luck to him if he is indeed not returning

The thread concerns Stephen Rivers and how horrible he played. What caught my eye was yates, in his consummate football knowledge, thought that Ole Miss was on par with vandy. What the dipsquid fails to realize is that Ole Miss was ranked 15th in the country. Most knew that vandy sucked and most knew that Ole Miss had a pretty good team.

I laughed when Yates said that winning those SIAA conference championships was probably more difficult the winning the SEC today. The Southern had some real powerhouses back then, such as Sewanee, Southwest Presbyterian (Rhodes), Nashville College, and Cumberland College!

Sewanee sucked except for the 1899 season

North Carolina W 5-0
Tennessee W 51-0
Ole Miss W 12-0
LSU W 34-0
Tulane W 23-0
Georgia Tech W 30-0
Georgia W 12-0
Texas A&M W 10-0
Auburn W 11-10
Texas W 12-0

I think your hate for Vandy is almost as close as mine.

Its a sad situation when my despise for a team almost reaches Bama and Florida levels. Even though they might how to reach their level of wins sometime in the 24th century.

Don Yates said this morning that a 30k domed stadium would be something other folks would envy

In the same discussion, there were also people comparing Vanderbilt to TCU/Baylor and Boston College fans. As if Nashville is the same as Boston and the state of Texas when it comes to sports/football. As someone after you commented, there are probably high schools that wouldn't even envy Vandy's stadium. Texas takes their football seriously, more seriously than Vanderbilt ever will and they have high school stadiums that reflect that. Hell, based off how Vanderbilt looked last season, Texas high school football also has talent reflects that in comparison to what Vanderbilt put on the field. Them comparing what TCU/Baylor has done in a football state like Texas is asinine. And while I'm not sure how Boston College bodes in putting fans in the seat, if you've seen the fandom they have for the Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins, comparing Vanderbilt's fan situation to Boston College is also stupid. They're better off comparing themselves to Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Washington State, Oregon State, Iowa State and every other 2nd rate team in their respective state.
