The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

As a reminder, they only won two of their FCS/horrible FBS games by a combined four points. And was only in the 4th quarter they slipped away from Old Dominion.

They very easily could have been 1-11 this year.

Heck, I'll say they SHOULD have gone 1-11. UMass choked plain and simple, they led and outplayed Vandy pretty much the whole game. Almost the same for Charleston Southern, though I won't say a so-so FCS choked against an SEC team. But they probably should have won.

OD is the only game Vandy probably should have won, and as you said even that that one, they pulled away in the 4th. It was close the whole game prior.

I dunno man, you'd be hard pressed to find a more prestigious football program than Yale or Harvard, granted they aren't powers like they were in football's formative years but most of these schools were around at football's genesis.

The Ivy league had the NC's on lockdown from the late 1800's till WW1.

I don't see them beating WKU or Houston next yr. MTSU won't be easy either. They have owned Vandy. They also hate Vandy about like we do lol.

I didn't hate Vandy originally. Not until their extremely few years of success caused it to go to their heads in a major way. There's a huge difference in the way Vandy handled success and Kentucky did at the beginning of this season. Kentucky could have (and likely should have with the Florida game) made a bowl this year. But it surely didn't go to their heads. And they acknowledge the fact we own them historically.

But ask a Vandy fan about history and suddenly they have long term memory loss and nothing prior to 2012 applies. Which is why I hope the game next year is a double digit victory that starts with at least a 6. I don't want a victory, I want them to seriously reconsider being in the SEC and even fielding a football team in the future.

I wish the SEC would trade Vandy for an ACC team or West Virginia.

Nah, now that they are back to where they historically are, I wouldn't trade them for a team that might be competitive now or in the future.

I like the automatic W on our season as the remainder of the SEC East and Ole Miss does.

Football season means two things to me now: Seeing how much the Vols improve and seeing how far Vandy has fallen from their 9-4 glory days. Can't wait to see the implosion next season. Also can't wait to watch their pathetic NSD celebration when they welcome a class with a 2.25 star average.

And that's what makes Candy fans so comical. All they can see is what happened in the Dooley years and think UT was going to stay there forever. They don't follow recruiting so they have no idea the classes that Butch is putting together. He'll be able to roll out of bed and get 6 wins if he keeps putting classes together like he has. Then it'll be up to the coaching staff to do the rest. They are easily the most delusional fan base I've ever come across. Completely clueless.

Don't worry. They'll bring up baseball like they've followed it all along before Corbin got there. Hell, Corbin's wife even asked him when he first got there, "Where are the fans?", when they played in an empty stadium his first year. They hopped on that bandwagon like a Bama football fan. Now they've all been huuuuuge baseball fans forever.

I've hated their football team less than their basketball team. I've hated their basketball team and that dump of a gym ever since I was a kid. That place used to be as bad as Rupp with the home cooking and the fans were terrible. I even went to games not involving UT and I ended up rooting so badly for the other team.

Football it all changed in 2005.

That's what started this thread originally. The departure of Franklin and what it did to their recruiting class.

All diamonds in the rough!!! CDM will develop them into studs and besides stars don't matter anyway!

True, but it's kind of been figured out that the recruiting classes he brought in weren't as good as they originally thought. They were getting better, but Franklin mainly operated with Bobby Johnson and Robby Caldwell's recruits.

It's comical now that when I was kid I rooted for them to win when they weren't playing us. The Franklin era did away with that forever, I've never seen a fan base deal with moderate success with as bad of sportsmanship as they did.

This pretty much sums it up. A few years ago (I think 2010 or 2011) Vandy played Arkansas and an Arkansas player absolutely drilled a defenseless Vandy player on a kickoff. It was a very dirty hit. I was pissed at Arkansas for like a year after that. I was asked several times why I care and I always said "Vandy is UT's little brother, when they aren't playing UT I want them to do well."

Then they had some success and I got to see how their fanbase handled it........ now, screw Vandy.

2.25 is way generous IMO. What we as Tennessee fans need to celebrate is the hiring of the dumbest coach in the history of college football. Who in the hell fires both of their coordinators after the first year other than a complete dumbass?

Mason is lost in being a head coach and it shows. The guy is an idiot. Vandy hired the worst coach in America.

Exactly. Most coaches dream of coaching in the SEC. He couldn't wait to get out. Vandergilted fans still wax poetic about their time with him.
