The Golf Thread

I've been spending like $200+ a month on golf the past few months....I really need to slow down, but I want to play. Im sad.

Well I went for my driver fitting today. Hit the RBZ, 910 D2, Razr Fit, R11s, and RBZ. I hit the 910 and Razr Fit Best. Razr Fit haD the Rip shaft in it. The Titelist has the diamana blue board in it.

Launch monitor stats were as follows:

Avg swing speed 113.5 mph High was 119.22 mph and low was 110. 88 mph. 119 was with te RBZ. It was very light weight.

Avg ball velocity was 164.4

Launch angle 12.7

Ball spin 2278

Avg distance 311.8. ( dont know how the know that for sure on a launch monitor)

Avg PTR 148

I think I will probably go Razr fit but not 100% sure yet. Thoughts?

I don't care much for the stock shaft in my RAZR fit but if you got good results with it I guess it's alright. I assume it was an x flex.

Probably just use the launch angle and velocity to calculate it.

Of course, it's not going to be 100% accurate, because they would have to model wind resistance, which would be difficult to do too accurately, so giving you a number to 4 significant digits is a joke.

I always thought ss was the first basic dynamic in determining shaft flex. Not all stiff flex shafts are created equal.

it's about shaft loading. Daly spent years in a stiff shaft, because his long swing gave him plenty of time to get up to speed. Loading the shaft is about acceleration, so quickness is more important to shaft needs than speed.

I agree. I don't put much stock in the distance #'s. was happy with my swing speed and launch angle.

Are we talking irons, woods, or everything?

I hit the Razr the best. Titelist 2nd. RBZ was very light weight compared to the others. R11 was least favorite. Always been a Titelist guy but starting to lean toward the Razr.

I have a 9.5 razr hawk driver and 3 wood. Great clubs. I always buy a model year behind so can't speak on the razr fit.

I have a Razr Fit with the Diamana Blueboard and I love it. Much more consistent(less slicing) and added about 15yds to my drives.

bpv, you a former pro? teacher? Didn't pick up golf till a few years ago. Peaked quickly and got to a single handicap, but roller coaster now.

I ask because you speak about several golf terms and I have no idea. I've not had a lesson.

All I know is a friend came through and we played saturday. He's good and pounds the ball. I played well saturday and today just by getting my right elbow behind my hip quickly and coming through the ball, as well as keeping my head back. Swing was probably as short as it's been and I'm back to hitting it with some distance.

Excellent point. People talk about swing speed as if it's the holy grail of shaft selection but when/where the club gets loaded anywhere/when it releases is what causes the speed. The guy that taught me how to play golf always told me that clubhead speed is a result of the swing; not a characteristic of it.
