The effort DW puts into secrecy

I think you misunderstand the nature of operational security (keeping secrets as an organization).

Sure, it takes some work up front to get everyone to buy in. But once you've got the culture built, it doesn't take a lot of time or effort to maintain it. Basically, just reminding everyone from time to time that it's important, and why.

So...maybe you're just IMAGINING some huge effort he's putting into it right now. Maybe he already did all the heavy lifting in the first week or two, and things are just good now.

Further, there's nothing obviously "childish" or "smug" about operational security. Those adjectives don't even seem to make sense, in this context. Maybe you can explain how you meant them.

OPSEC and the “Need to Know” principal. Folks may not like them but you can’t run a tight ship with out ‘em. And whether we like it or not, we don’t need to know.

Leaking within an organization is a sure sign of incompetence and quite often, especially within governmental agencies, it’s alarming criminal. Look no further than the scandalous FBI. But if I’m in charge of a hiring process that’s so high profile like this is...I’m not saying a word until we have the hire in place. Then, as a professional would do, release that info in a very open and public way. Leaking is blatantly disloyal when CLEARLY being told not to.

I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking, and I wasn’t the original poster you asked multiple rhetorical questions to, but yes... whining.

Well partner, given that definition I’d say we’re pretty much all whiners at one point or another. Such as your comment about DW whining. Or this current comment of mine.

This is a pretty big club you’re starting...

You have to admit. The amount of effort White is putting into this “No Leak” policy is quite ridiculous. If they put half the effort in finding a great coach as they do secrecy/misdirection then it would for sure be home run hires. It’s also pretty childish and smug to do this in 2021. I understand there has to be some confidential information but Auburn and other teams did not do this mess. You’d have less problems just giving a little information like normal administrations. JMO
Whatever the auBarns do, we should do the opposite......train wrecks and dumpster fires don't even begin to describe the world of hurt they find themselves in on the stinkiest village on the plains

Seriously, has DW made multiple comments about leaks? I only know of one - and one comment is not whining...

I can only speak to the Heupel press conference and an interview on 104.5 The Zone in Nashville. He brought up the leaks both times. That makes me think he probably has talked about it more, but I honestly don’t care enough to research it. The thesaurus is full of other options if you don’t like “whining,” but I’ve never been accused sugarcoating anything

Almost feels like random names being leaked to obscure the real hire and also figure where info is being leaked from.
