The effort DW puts into secrecy

An AD who maintains secrecy and whose private conversations remain private, will have more people talking to him, and will hear what they really think.

But if the OP thinks there's some advantage to hearing from fewer people, and hearing only what they don't mind getting repeated instead of the truth...

I disagree with you. This is backwards logic. The only reason there are wild and unsubstantiated rumors is exactly because of the secrecy. In the absence of clear information people will invent their own.

If you say the truth and are transparent then people cant invent their own rumors.

So you think if he shared all the interviews they have had, there won't be any invented rumors as a result of those interviews? In my view, that would multiply the volume and extent of rumors.

Danny is having to adjust to a program that is the biggest thing in the state.
At UCF, his school was way down the list of fan and media interest (even in Orlando) behind the Gators,Noles, Canes, Bucs, and Jaguars. He will adjust to the bigger interest from both fans and the Tennessee media or he will be very frustrated at UT.

They either like the offer or they don’t. We are kidding ourselves if we think these coaches have to time to sit around watching the news, checking headlines, trying to figure out how many people a university has interviewed before them. They don’t even have time to see their own families for Christ’s sake. Much less see what number in line they were on our call list.

You're right but they have agents to do that for them. Those agents have an entire staff in most cases who are paid to know everything that is knowable. When a person is going to get paid a % of the contract you get them you'd better believe they have a vested interest in getting every feasible dollar for their client. There is a reason good agents make tens of millions annually.

I would prefer the AD and coach spend their energies conducting a thoughtful, well calculated search in a confidential, focused, professional manner instead of trying to communicate every thought and move to the press. That is a totally different approach than the last decade, which didn't turn out too well.

You have to admit. The amount of effort White is putting into this “No Leak” policy is quite ridiculous. If they put half the effort in finding a great coach as they do secrecy/misdirection then it would for sure be home run hires. It’s also pretty childish and smug to do this in 2021. I understand there has to be some confidential information but Auburn and other teams did not do this mess. You’d have less problems just giving a little information like normal administrations. JMO
Why are people whining about this? The whining is ridiculous ;)

If you interviewed for another job, would you be cool with them calling and telling your current boss?
Absolutely. I’ve got nothing to hide. If I’m bettering myself then there’s no shame in doing so. Saban lied to Miami about Bama and it hurt his image for awhile. If you’re scared of what you’re current employer will do to you then you’re working at the wrong place.

Why would the issues he is guarding against at a lower level not be even more important at the higher levels? Loose lips sink ships... small ships and giant ships. Fans and media alike tend to make assumptions and try to cover their butts with qualifying statements, like unidentified sources, or word or the street, rather than wait for verifiable information. Not all contact between Schools and prospective coaches is created equal. We have seen several guys reported as GETTING OFFERS, when in fact it very will could be a request to know if they had enough interest in a job at a specific pay rate in order to be placed on a list for further vetting. It is in the school's and the coach's best interest to limit some of these from getting out. Vetting may in fact eliminate some candidates. Some coaches may have interest but not at the pay and no need to vet them. Lots of moving parts.

thats way better than me having to read reams of rumor threads about coaches UT had no intention of ever interviewing. I'd rather hear rumors about the one coach they are after and not the other 50 that are just made up by idiots because no real information is available.

One of the most naive takes on this board.

Yes, you are quite right it is childish to keep confidential the candidates for hiring who may be employed and not want their employer to know. Possibly it is childish from letting it get leaked to the press who you passed over or the impact of someone turning you down. Right now nobody knows anything so the premise that anything has happened except for due diligence is incorrect. No leaks equals plausible deniability. This Administration is finally doing its homework and being deliberate. When has that happened before? For some reason this is a criticism. We complain when there is a knee-jerk hire and we complain when we think it’s taking too long. Maybe it’s not White or Heupel maybe it’s...... US!

More arm chairs who could run the program better than the ones hired....... ridiculous!

The ridiculous is your stupid nonsense you spouted off in your moronic post. First clue is to HAVE A CLUE as to you're content of your post and then back it by fact but I sure that falls on deaf ears.

Better to read than post because the majority of posters get dumber by the min...... Later!!!!!!! Much Later!!!!!!!!

Thank you! This is my point aslo. It’s what got us here.
Well, you hit rock bottom. You find yourself allying with MWA, one of the worst program-haters on these boards ever to even pretend to be a Vol fan. You can not get any lower.

Better to simply admit you were wrong and the OP was misguided, promise to spend 7 years in careful reflection and re-consideration, than to ally with that dude.

Step back, before it is too late.
