So? Pearl painted up and showed passion. Those are obviously the only two requirements to be a successful basketball coach at Tennessee.

No. How about getting a proven winner that doesn't have the personality of a dead corpse, that can succeed at the simple task of getting a technical foul when he wants one.

After the Miami fiasco with the NCAA, we have to hire Bruce or Memphis or UGA or Bama will hire him and he will get to stick it to us every year.

Just because you don't think so does not make it fact.

And just because you think so does not make it fact.

You quote me some reputable sources with links saying he will coach in the SEC...

Everything I've heard and read from people is that Slive will pretty much keep him out of the league.

If you'd like to make a wager on Pearl coaching in the SEC or not next year I would love to...but something tells me you won't take me up on that offer.

I have read to many of your "fact" posts to expect you to honor a wager.

And how could Slive do that?

while i would love the man to come back, its not going to happen. the glory days are gone. much like the glory days of the 90s in football. i just want hoops games to be a cool thing to attend. back in the pearls days i could take hotties to the games and get some. it was a cool time. now i would have a hard time getting a pig to go to these games. if i did stoop and take a pig, at least no one would know, because no one is at the games

You know the power SEC commissioner has right?

He can't flat out say you're not allowed to hire him, but he can make every school aware of the uphill battle they'll face if they hire him.

Still didn't answer the question. How/what can Slive do to make it "an uphill battle"? You realize he works for the member institutions, right?

He has control over scheduling, and has direct ties to the NCAA committee. You know those dreaded Thursday/Saturday games, oh yea I'm sure that school would get a few. Meanwhile I'm sure said school would get left out of SEC/? Challenge games that Slive picks.

You don't think the commissioner of the conference can make a SEC coaches job harder?

He sure can, he won't though I don't think the members would put up with that for a second. Anyway Slive will be retiring in a year or two.

I know Pearl is not coming back to the hill but to say Slive will keep him out of the SEC is asinine. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Vandy next year.

I'll bet anything you want he will not be coaching in the SEC next year. Like I said, Slive will let SEC ADs know what they'll be up against if they do.

Slive had a big part in why Hamilton dropped Pearl and didn't try to fight the NCAA like you see a lot of schools doing.

No. Hamilton was just a weak idiot and Slive and the NCAA loved that and flexed their muscles at UT. If we had an AD with a little bit of balls, then this whole "BBQ lie" never happened, TBA would be rocking and we'd be a top 10 BBall school right now.

Bottom line is, if Hart wants Pearl, he can get Pearl, and there isn't a thing Slive can do about it.

You are 100% correct. BTO just doesn't want to face the fact that Counzo is a horrible coach.

Why does everybody have such a hard time understanding that Cuonzo's coaching ability and Pearl having no chance of coaching at Tennessee again are two separate issues?
