They questioned an assistant coach first and he lied about it, Pearl was trying to cover for an assistant or that was the story I heard.

He was trying to keep a stupid plan together with another stupid move. Stupidity all over and it has nothing to do with having jrs over to try and seal up another 2-3 yrs of ncaa runs.

No. Hamilton was just a weak idiot and Slive and the NCAA loved that and flexed their muscles at UT. If we had an AD with a little bit of balls, then this whole "BBQ lie" never happened, TBA would be rocking and we'd be a top 10 BBall school right now.

Bottom line is, if Hart wants Pearl, he can get Pearl, and there isn't a thing Slive can do about it.

So......you're not gonna take my bet?

When Slive starts messing with schools over their internal decisions he will shown the door.

Slive is not all powerful and can be replaced.

He has been for years, he's still in charge. Some of you are in denial if you don't think he had power like that.

So, now we're going to sue the SEC so we can hire a known NCAA rules violator? Look, I really do understand wanting to bring back a proven winner, but think about how absolutely Dungeons n' Dragons nuts that scenario is.

Lmao it's becoming beyond comical really

He doesn't. And he will not keep from or retaliate against any school that does hire Pearl. Pearl will be back in the SEC just not at UT, sadly.

No he won't, but I'll save this post and bump it next year for you. It's common knowledge amongst SEC ADs that you won't hire Pearl, much the same way Petrino was treated.

So?

At the time we all thought it was a good thing.

It was Slive trying to force Hamilton to fire him then, and not wait til after the season. You didn't find it odd at all the Hammy said they were gonna stick by Pearl and fight it out, and then all of a sudden night before our NCAAT game he basically says he's done?

You don't think Slive had any communications with Hammy about Pearl staying?

No, I do not think for one second Slive had anything to do with Pearls firing. Nor do I for Petrino not being hired by an SEC school.

We did? I honestly don't recall what the vibe was around here, but the talk show circuit said it was a very bad sign for Pearl.

Several did including me thought it was done to head off worse penalties by the NCAA.

Then he got caught not disclosing that bump violation and it was over.

Slive had an illusion of power because a weakling like Hamilton allowed it.

Do you think for a second, that if Calipari did the exact same thing as Pearl, that Kentucky would allow a punishment like that?? I don't. No way in hades would they throw their coach to the wolves like Tennessee did.

That's a complete crock. Cal would have denied everything and then kept denying or stopped talking until the NCAA threw up their hands. That's the thing about lying. One has to be really good at it to get away with it. Liars have to be committed, good at it and not lie about stupid things.

To this day it blows my mind that Pearl risked it all over pics of a BBQ taken inside his own house and a stupid bump violation when he needed to stay clean.
