Ranting and whining are just about the only things that happen on message boards -- including this one. So ... valiant effort, but it's a waste of time.

You're right. Probably a 0.01% chance Pearl ever comes back to coach here.

Saying Martin will be fired if he doesn't make the tournament is a stretch. I think it really depends on "how" he doesn't make the tournament (which I'm fairly certain he won't). I think a lot of people were/are delusional about the ceiling for this team.

If the Vols don't make it this year, does anyone think they would make it the following year? If not, how many consecutive tourney-less years does Martin get? I have no clue whether Pearl could/would/should be brought back, but I do know that he went to the tournament every year he was here. And, Bruce won his very first year after inheriting a team that lost its two leading scorers from the prior year from a team with a losing record.

Delusional? This is the most talented team we've had in a long time. Expectations should be high. There is still a lot of ball to be played, under this coach the Vols have started slow, had a nice run in the middle, and ended poorly. Hopefully, they can maintain a nice run through most of the SEC season and have a favorable showing in the tournament, but time will tell.

You can always not click on threads that have Pearl's name in them, but I guess that's asking to much, isnt it.

Just because this is the most talent we've had in a while doesn't mean we're good enough to make the Elite 8, as many on here stated was a must for Martin to keep his job before the season started. And there's little/no evidence to suggest Martin can get this team to play above their skill level -- something Pearl teams did consistently, by the way.

If you realistically look at the remaining schedule, we pretty much have to win the next two OR go on an amazing run through the weak SEC (not likely, due to inconsistency) OR win the SEC tournament (also not likely) to make the NCAA tournament.

We really shouldn't have lost to a mediocre Xavier, and we definitely should not have lost to UTEP.

Just wondering if you got your panties in a wad during all the "Gruden is a done deal" crap or were you one of the idiots that was convinced he was coming? If you don`t like the Pearl threads then don`t read then. People have the right to post what they want.

The Bruce treatment was way too much and very unjust. Bruce is UT basketball!!!! Bruce built UT bball, Bruce brought the excitement, Bruce deserves his job back. This **** is inexcusable.

I'll just say this: We're going to look really stupid when the NCAA is irrelevant in 2016 and Bruce Pearl is leading some formerly downtrodden program to new heights while we continue to languish in mediocrity.

No self-respecting program is going to hire someone with that much baggage who has never seen a Final Four above the D2 level.
