That's racist!

Granted this article is kinda old but I thought I'd throw it out here for everyone to see and comment. It appears to me that it says very little. For example:

While the teachers were asked to detect “challenging behavior”, no such behavior existed in any of the videos...The participants’ conscious appraisal of whom they believed required the most attention closely mirrored the independent results of an eye-tracking technology used by the research team, which noted that preschool teachers “show a tendency to more closely observe black students, and especially boys, when challenging behaviors are expected”.

So they're not saying that the black kid was being disciplined or anything. Just that their "eye-tracking technology" didn't like it. Seriously? We're hanging our hat on racism in the classroom on eye tracking technology? If there was no "challenging behavior" then the study should be invalidated due to lack of evidence.

But proponents of the novel grading practices also advocate the elimination of "zero grades" by using a 50-100 scale. Under that scale, a student cannot receive a grade lower than 50, even if the assignment was never submitted, thereby creating a much higher grade floor and enabling students to achieve passing grades more easily.

I don’t see how this ends other than one group having had enough and taking matters into their own hands. The media in this country is going to force it. The rest of us know that real life isn’t what’s portrayed in todays Lexus commercials.
