“Tampering” during that time was common practice nationwide at tournaments. A lot of conversations happened that weren’t supposed to. If you think they didn’t, you’re fooling yourself.

Talking to high school kids at tournaments during a questionable contact period and offering players enrolled in school and actively playing on a team hundreds of thousands of dollars in the middle of a season are very different things.

Nothing questionable. It was before the contact period. I don’t disagree on the speaking to and offering during the season. Both are wrong.

Both were/are products of the environment at the time. Travel ball coaches are making calls to players on behalf of coaches to gauge interest as well as NIL influences.

Wonder if a player or group of players will ever step up to expose the nasty underbelly of “the business of it”?

Seems like that would generate a lucrative book deal.

What needs to be exposed? Everybody that is even halfway paying attention knows what is going on.

Asking For a Friend…

Is it nasty, a lot of people were clamoring for players to get paid what they “Deserved” and now people don’t like the business of it.

As they say, “Be Careful What You Ask For As You May Get It”

I think there is a difference between athletes having the ability to sign autographs and do commercials, appearances and social media posts for money and a wealthy booster offering the parent of a talented player six figures to transfer to another school.

I think every fan at every school thought the system of players having committed a potentially career-ending violation if they accepted a free meal or took anything of value because of who they were was wrong. I advocated for that change, and I put money behind that change when it was allowed to happen. But I also don’t think what we’re doing now is right, either.

Oh I agree with you but the NCAA is like Washington, DC, they screw up everything they touch because they have no common sense.

The NCAA created this mess by their stance for the past 50 years so they changed the system, to one just as screwed up as their previous one.

Jackie Kirkpatrick is in. Graduated junior as well.

Faw at this point is probably here. She didn’t have the year to see if she could get better elsewhere. No Mealer to battle and her sister is at UT as well.
