Swain not buying CJP explanation on Maurer

He was a Sr a grad transfer you do know last year was the first year you could play 4 games and redshirt and he played his freshman , sophomore, and junior year was hurt in sophomore and junior year. The NCAA will grant medical a 6th year to those that have missed more than half there playing career. Next year Maurer will be a true Sophomore.
A special case involves the eligibility of a player who loses the majority of a season to injury, known as a medical redshirt. A hardship waiver may be granted to those athletes who sustain a major injury while appearing in less than 30% of team competitions, nor can they have participated after the midpoint of a season. For the purposes of eligibility, players granted such a waiver are treated as though they did not compete in that season.

He has played in 5 games so doesnt that rule him out?

The

The short leash theory is exactly what keeps teams from ever having a top rated qb. It’s like saying if a qb doesn’t come out of hs ready to plug and play at a national championship caliber, he ain’t worth a s***.

I'm not talking about forever. If BM or JTS had more than 2 games worth of experience collectively then you could trust them more (hopefully) and turn them loose.
If CJC threw the playbook at BM or JTS and cut them loose now it would be a poop show of cosmic proportions. With all his deficiencies CJC has more options with JG in the game.
Let a hunting dog of the rope before you can trust him to come when called, ya got no hunting dog.

Not by me you weren't.

I already made a guarantee, d**kweed. Stop asking me to repeat myself.

If the scrub goes the distance in all three, we lose at least one, maybe two.

If Maurer or Shrout get to go in before Jarette mucks it up too badly, we still may win all three. But only if Pruitt is smart enough to pull the scrub before it gets too bad.

Mr. McOrange you have some explaining to do. You don't appear too high on JG here but when it came time to vote I see your name there next to last for JG. Personally I don't care who you support I just dont understand your argument in this thread compared to your vote in another thread.

Are you trolling folks for fun?

IF we lose 2 of these last 3 and JG is at the helm, I highly doubt he'll be welcome back in K-Town next season. When the pressure is on is when he seems to collapse. I'll be pleasantly surprised if we win 2 with JG.

I hope he is not back. But if he is and we dont make a bowl with jg, if Pruitt hasn't already learned we cant win with jg it's probably gona be the same next yr jg starts and we win 5 or 6 games

You Jarette fanbois are all the same. Well, there are only four or so of you. So I probably shouldn't say 'all'.

lmao

Poll, QB to lead the Vols to a Bowl

Only 14 percent think your scrub is the one.

Keep up, Im not a fanboy of anyone.
What if Shout plays and we lose?

Much fewer people would be pissed off. At least we'd know he went with his best available option at quarterback.

I wasn't even talking to but you had to put your 2 cents in. Lol, then you had to go completely wacky.

no I'm not. Neither are the other 99 percent of the fans who agree with me.

Check those results. Lol.

Saying this morning that there is no way that Maurer was physically cleared to play vs UAB but then didn’t play.
Says he said that to protect Maurer and confuse the competition.
Says if he was healthy he would play ahead of someone with a cast on his hand.
Also said that CJP has no faith in Shrout.

I can believe all of it but that Maurer is done for the season. No reason a concussion has to take a whole year to recover from.

Good catch. Probably a gator troll.

Maybe, but DP is all around the people who would know and he doesn't make stuff up.... and it's not exactly hard to believe.
Him using that particular epithet plus Maurer being the most accurate of the 3 in live play... gives me a little doubt. That's why I asked politely.

Is it a Peyton type injury in the neck?
That's been my question all along. Everyone kept saying concussion. I kept looking at those two plays and seeing nothing that looked like it would have caused a concussion... but a play that could have caused a neck injury and another play that could have aggravated it. A pinched nerve or jammed neck can have some concussion like symptoms.

One of the few comments I found from him concerning who would start was on September 30th when he declared there was zero chance that anyone other than JG would start.

When BM was here in Nashville I had a feeling he was seeing a neck specialist and NOT for his concussions ... did you see the way he landed in that MSU game? Man I've landed like that before as well ... cracked a vertebrae. I hope to God this kid is ok. He's a fierce competitor. Some of the foremost neck specialists in the world are at Vanderbilt so I trust that he got the care/advice he needed.
I wouldn't be surprised if he did miss the rest of the season as another poster has suggested. I thought we would see him at Missouri (after the bye)
Just like Swain though, I wasnt buying that he was good to go.

I see you've done some deep analysis. Do the QBs play Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who gets credit for the special teams TDs?

I've been disappointed in JG too, but this situation just isn't that hard to figure out.

It is when most everyone can see the whole rest of the team plays better without jg.

That's fine, it doesn't mean you're right. The majority is often wrong.

I was guaranteed that we would lose if JG played in the SC game.

Tennessee 41
South Car. 21

Care to make a guarantee there, Whistle Britches?

What was the score when jg left the game with injury with sc

Of course you don't care. You're an ignoramus.

No. I can't explain that. Maybe it was a mistake by me (clicked the wrong button?)

But I have never once advocated for Jarette to be behind center. He's a scrub. He's always been a scrub, he'll always be a scrub.

If you can find one post from me claiming that Jarette is our best option at QB, I'll buy you two fifty yard line seats for our last home game.

Pruitt's explanation today made more sense.

He said it was actually the week before when he couldn't get as many reps mentioning a cumulative effect. I can buy that... if we see Maurer out there again.

Well I wanted those 50 yard line seats so I reviewed. I cant find a post you supported JG but I did see you also voted for JG to start last week in another poll then claimed it was an error/misunderstanding there as well.

It's either you don't have luck with the polls or you're a troll. Either way it's your prerogative just looks a little suspect.

Why, if he leads us to wins the next 4 games as the starter please tell me his reasoning as to why he would leave. Everything I've heard is that he loves the University of Tennessee and is committed to this team and this staff. If he has the starting job at the end of the year he will not transfer I believe. If he's not the starter at the end of the season is the ONLY way he transfers I believe.
Brian Maurer will be the starter as long as he is healthy.

I wish every coach I ever faced had this philosphy. It is very important for this team to avoid turnovers at all costs.

If it were my call, IF BM is 100% and was having good practices I would start him over a one handed JG but he would have a very short leash (Actually I would have a hold of his facemask in case I had to jerk him out quick).

If there is any question about BM, maybe start JTS with the same short leash but he was real scary at the start of both halves last week.

Next JG but I would use JJ and wild dog package more.

JTS would see the field if we had a very comfortable lead as he is our only really healthy QB, he needs the experience, and it would make Mizzou prepare for 4 QBs.

I take it you either haven’t coached a lot or you haven’t won a lot the way you are talking about juggling qbs.
