Stop picking on Jancek

Bingo. Tells us to stop insulting some guy who was merely a paid employee of the University and otherwise had NO connection to the school and starts his little tirade by making an incest joke that offends the fanbase and a lot of alumni who actually care about the school and went there. Meanwhile, actually bringing more attention to what he wanted people to stop talking about. Well done, OP, well done.

27 people like that crap as well

4th and 14. Grier is literally limping. You make the obvious call and bring the house, and we win the East and break the streak.

You got no idea what would have happened. If he dials up a blitz and they get the pass off for a TD, there's a meltdown with people claiming we should have had more DBs in coverage so they can't score on a long pass. Hell, we had 3 guys who couldn't make the tackle

I hate to see him leave the way he did, he obviously rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I was content with him being our DC. However, I am extremely intrigued by the upgrade at DC. I am not sure at how long Shoop will be here, this feels like he is trying to trampoline himself up the ladder. If we keep getting the talent that we are getting, Jimbo Hyams could be our DC and we would win the East.

I've yet to see anyone bash Jancek...

Then you are not reading the same threads with his name in them. Besides the stuff about his poor choices at times in coaching (some of which are well earned), the lewd and crude joke about who he may have been sleeping with or his wife's issues - all of which are from mere twitter rumor - are just not called for IMHO. Its not like he did us any wrong.

And for those who question his coaching, hey, I think Shoop is an improvement, sure - but only time will tell. But lets respect Jancek for what he was here, a good but not GREAT (top 10 year after year) defensive coach. For one, I am very glad that CBJ brought him here and that he gave us (tho paid well mind you) 3 years.

Now why dont we show some class, wish him well and focus on our new awesome hire that will get us to the SEC champ game and beyond this year.

I agree there is no reason to dump on him but it is not classy saying Vol fans date their sisters. Neither of the comments show "class". I also didn't understand how he could be a VFL.

We had 4 players around the receiver and they all mysteriously fell down, tripped, fainted whatever. How can I logically blame Jancek for that?

EXACTLY!! Makes as much sense as blaming Azzani for Crooms Knee and Norths back along with P Williams tearing his knee up his Sr year of HS..

Seriously, what is wrong with you people, crapping on the guy after he is gone? Did he interrupt your date with your sister or something? The lack of respect here for a guy who helped us to build our team and program to where we beat a top #15 team in the bowl and the first time we were 9 wins in almost a decade.

Are we upgrading? Yes,I think so (and more importantly Butch thinks so). Was Jancek's 4th qtr defense often lame? heck yeah! but lets not dismiss or disrespect what he DID do - and that is to get our program from the pits of Dooley despair to where we could AFFORD a star hire like Shoop and had an arsenal of hardened talent for him to work with off the bat. Nor should we act as if he is a Dooley level coach. He did a pretty solid job as DC in the SEC and thats no easy task. Some program will be quite happy with him.

So lets wish him well and hope that any family issues he may have get sorted out and that he lands a great DC position (preferably out west) with someone else - and quit this petty dissing of someone who should be considered VFL.

WTF are you talking about? I haven't seen anything that's "picking on" Jancek. Questioning some choices made in games that were questionable? Sure. Same could be said about any current or former UT coach. Grow up.

Actually, I think the whole rumor thing about why he was let go is over the top. Why put things like that out there that have not been proven. Does it make you feel better about yourself? And yes, many on here have belittled him with all the 4th and Jancek stuff. Maybe if one of the three db's in the area make a tackle and we win. There is a lot of ignorance in some on this forum. Not all, but some.

how do you embed a video? I've searched the forum and no help .

Hope this helps.

.

If not you can quote a post with an imbedded link and modify it, copy and paste where you want it.

Leave Brittany alone!!!
(Looking at you op)

That being said thanks CJJ for all the hard work you put into this team and I hope you continue to find success wherever you go so long as you're not coaching against UT.

That is the stuff I am talking about, the personal stuff - not simply critiquing his poor in game coaching choices (which is fair game in my mind). Point is why treat the guy like he is Lane Kiffin or something?

I'm not one to ever give into rumors, so I usually stay away from these things....but I had something to say in this case.

I ran into Coach Jancek and his wife at a restaurant in Knoxville one day. No one had recognized him, or if they did, they didn't bother him. I had to take just a moment to say hi, introduce myself, and thank him for all that he has done. Him and his wife were very gracious and appeared excited to talk a moment. I did quickly excuse myself so that they could enjoy their breakfast together and that was the end of it. My personal experience was a good one. If anything else happened outside of that, well, I just have to dismiss it as a rumor and nothing more. Thank you to coach and his family for their time here and I wish them the best.

You're missing the point. Grier should have never had that much time to make that decision. Florida's O-line is weak, and tired, Grier can't escape pressure because he's hurt.

If ONE player gets near him, it's an errant throw at best. Rushing 3 allowed him to be a statue, send a text, tie his shoe, then make the right decision. Any decent D Coordinator knows you send a message loud and clear in this situation: "You, Mr. Injured QB behind a weak O-line, have about 2-3 seconds tops to make the right decision and execute it properly."

I think the whole staff who came from Cincinnati and took on the Vol dumpster fire challenge deserve major credit. They rebuilt an SEC program from rock bottom to the upper level of the conference in 3 years - that is amazing. Coach Jancek deserves much credit as his teams gave great effort even if depth and talent was lacking. Best of luck to him and his family. The man can coach and I am sure he will be heard from again.
