From this still image, I may have to retract. Hard to tell. None of us know intent though.
This what I've said in the past about Georgia Tech's o line and I got blasted on here
I thought the dawg tried to make a come from behind block that might or might not have been legal. I don't think he should have made the block, but do think he was just trying to make a play, not a dirty play. He could have hit from behind, but managed to block from the side. The injury sucks. Tuttle is a fine player. Hope he heals well, 100%.
Did we suspend anyone when our defender put his helmet on Lattimore's knee? Or when our guy hit Chubb when he was arguably going out of bounds? It's football, this kinda stuff happens unfortunately. Unless somebody pulled a blatant haynesworth, they're not getting suspended.
Having watched one bama defensive player hold Tony Robinson up while another hit his knees, I fear that Dobbs will be a target for the same kind of treatment.
Do you understand the difference between a block and a tackle?
Firstly, this sucks big time. Tuttle was playing very well this season. Of course its just our luck though, just before what could be the biggest game of the season we lose an impact player.
Lastly, I see TDawg trying to justify the hit on Tuttle. Why am I not surprised? A Georgia homer doesnt want to admit one of his teams players made a dirty hit. The guy should be suspended for that. The fact that he cannot clearly see a clip is just insane.
The point is it was a dirty play. There SHOULD be some type of punishment for it. He should be out until Tuttle gets back healthy.
Yes it is. Yes they do. I hope so too.

I don't think we can assume it was meant to be dirty. I think dirty and cheap are two different things. Cheap to me is when a player simply makes a quick action without thinking breaking the rules of the game (Holding or a minor foul). Dirty has more of a darker connatation to me, like if a player clearly is trying to injure someone with an action that clearly isn't in the sport usually. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference, but I really believe it's an important difference. Sometimes players react on an impulse in a split second and make a cheap shot. Some players go out and have a habit of hurting others (Suh for example).
I saw more of a cheap hit. The UGA player lost his block, tried to hold Shy, and as a last ditch effort tossed himself at the player. It's clearly a cheap shot. I don't know if we can assume he had intent (dirty hit) to actually aim for the knees. Either way it doesn't belong on the field.
What is the precedent? Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Sure, Butch can submit film to the league office and they'll say, "So sorry. We missed one." if..............they say anything. There are penalties during the game for this kind of stuff. Watch our pulling guards on those Jet sweeps. They are blocking at the knees on those D ends and linebackers as well. Stuff happens. I hate that it happened to our guy and to their guy as well. But...........we can't be whining about dirty play whenever one of our guys goes down. 300+ pounders aren't ballet dancers.
Regardless, until somebody shows me a rule that requires the other guy to sit out as long as the guy he injured is out, this is much ado about nothing.
How did you view it when one of the UGA linemen attempted to do the same thing to Owen Williams later in the game? Seemed like a pattern to me. Luckily Owen wasn't seriously hurt.
