Shy Tuttle out for the season

What are the GA idiots saying we did that was dirty? Was it dirty that we lined a regulation field and he stepped out of bounds? Are they saying we purposely put some loose turf specifically in that exact place hoping Chubb would step there and slip? FAIL

Go back to page two. Mine is the second post. I put a link in from their site, go read it. Unreal!!

Did we suspend anyone when our defender put his helmet on Lattimore's knee? Or when our guy hit Chubb when he was arguably going out of bounds? It's football, this kinda stuff happens unfortunately. Unless somebody pulled a blatant haynesworth, they're not getting suspended.

During the course of play injuries will happen. This guy was grabbing his jersey then dove at his knees from behind. It's was a dirty play. And should've been called for holding before he dove at him.

From this still image, I may have to retract. Hard to tell. None of us know intent though.

The intent does not negate whether the play was illegal or dirty. The picture shows a hit below the waist, away from the blocking zone (5yds either side of the center) and from the side/back. Penalties are (or should be called) based upon the act, not necessarily the intent of the act. No one knows the offensive player's intent in this instance, but he clearly held and may have clipped Shy.

If I were Butch, I would certainly submit the hit to the league office.

The NY Giants have used a pkg of 4 DE's in their front four and it worked for them for many seasons.

You are absolutely CORRECT, but the NY Giants had 4 QUALITY Defensive Ends that could do that as we would be taking him out of his NATURAL position to do that and he doesnt provide anything from the interior, So, I guess Im saying I think you know what you get w/ him on the EDGE, but were HOPING he gives us something when he's playing DT.......I (and all scouts) think he's a "difference maker" on the edge but very average in the interior...

What is the point of the dirty or not dirty play discussion? To have the UGA guy sit out a game for targeting?

It's a contact sport. Things happen. Hope the injury heals and Shy gets back to normal soon.

The point is it was a dirty play. There SHOULD be some type of punishment for it. He should be out until Tuttle gets back healthy.

Yes it is. Yes they do. I hope so too.

Has O'brien played a snap since his reinstatement or did I miss something? Can't remember his name being called the last 3 games.

Haven't followed it closely, but I wish the UGA player would just come out and say sorry or something. I played sports many years, including football, and I know how some players are. Games move fast, you're trying hard to do a solid job, and a moment gets away from you. I've been on both ends on dirty plays before, and I know a lot of the times it ended with apologies and regrets. Hopefully the UGA player regrets it. It definitely was a cheap shot that doesn't belong on the field.

Prayers to Shy. Heal up quick big guy.

You serious? The devil's advocate routine can be dropped at this point. That hit was both illegal and dirty. I saw it live and could immediately see what the "intent" was behind that hit. Kid got beat by a true freshman and tried to take him out of the game. End of story.

Tremendous difference in accidents and intentional. Not close to being the same.

It was dirty but not illegal

You can't block below the waist from the back OR SIDE if the ball has left the tackle box. Inside or directly in front of the ball is legal IF the player is facing you.

This rule exists exactly for what we saw against UGA- it's cheap and causes injuries.

From the side and it looks like it was aimed at his hip.

Unfortunate and it sucks, but it doesn't look malicious.

He took out his legs as Tuttle was mid-stride. This caused Tuttle to collapse on his own leg. Looked like he mangled his leg pretty bad.

Why do we lose a starter a game for the year, you can't keep losing top player's and compete in this league, the football God's have it in for us, look like we been through enough, but in the end we will have one bad azz football team in 16.

I just saw this. Very sad. Hope he recovers quickly. This hurts our depth but we can rise up and overcome.

I thought the dawg tried to make a come from behind block that might or might not have been legal. I don't think he should have made the block, but do think he was just trying to make a play, not a dirty play. He could have hit from behind, but managed to block from the side. The injury sucks. Tuttle is a fine player. Hope he heals well, 100%.
