Shy Tuttle out for the season

Ugh! If it was just a fibula break he might have been back for Vanderbilt, definitely Kentucky. Unfortunately the ankle ligament tear did him in.

From this still image, I may have to retract. Hard to tell. None of us know intent though.

Just like throwing at someone in baseball. Only the guy doing really knows. However, you look at what was going on at the time and try to figure it out. But, the player only knows 100 percent for sure. To me, after the words and being chippy, it was purposeful. Those OL get rolled up from time to time and can just lose it and do something bad. In this case, it looks bad.

This what I've said in the past about Georgia Tech's o line and I got blasted on here

The difference is coming from behind someone and cutting them compared to a crap or cut block from behind. You can get your legs off when some one is cutting you from the front. You can't when clipped because you never see it coming. You can't cut someone while someone else has you engaged up high. Crashing down on someone's leg at those angles are different than a crap or cut at the LOS from the front. From the front it is the same thing as throwing a shoulder at a RB to bring him down. Both can cause injuries but are not dirty illegal clip plays.

I thought the dawg tried to make a come from behind block that might or might not have been legal. I don't think he should have made the block, but do think he was just trying to make a play, not a dirty play. He could have hit from behind, but managed to block from the side. The injury sucks. Tuttle is a fine player. Hope he heals well, 100%.

The fact that he held Tuttle before throwing the cut should tell you all you need to know. It was dirty.

Did we suspend anyone when our defender put his helmet on Lattimore's knee? Or when our guy hit Chubb when he was arguably going out of bounds? It's football, this kinda stuff happens unfortunately. Unless somebody pulled a blatant haynesworth, they're not getting suspended.

Legal tackle while foot is planted with Lattimore. Chubb was fully in the field of play and was hit on the opposite leg that got hurt. He got hurt AFTER twisting around and then landing on it funny and the knee went backwards with no one touching him. What in the world are you watching?

Having watched one bama defensive player hold Tony Robinson up while another hit his knees, I fear that Dobbs will be a target for the same kind of treatment.

And if they even try it then you stand up a DL engaged and crack his stinking leg in half. And, keep doing it if they try again. These stupid kids need to learn and respect each other. Could be someone's future way to make a living. You should never play dirty. But, if you do, expect there to be heck to pay. Guys in the NFL will tell you they wish to cause pain but not long term injuries that could keep a guy from making a living.

Do you understand the difference between a block and a tackle?

I also think the new targeting rule started that year so everyone was being taught to tackle low. Part of the reason so many more leg injuries on tackles because you could not even dare to go high. TDawg is a good rival poster but is way off base on this one.

Firstly, this sucks big time. Tuttle was playing very well this season. Of course its just our luck though, just before what could be the biggest game of the season we lose an impact player.

Lastly, I see TDawg trying to justify the hit on Tuttle. Why am I not surprised? A Georgia homer doesnt want to admit one of his teams players made a dirty hit. The guy should be suspended for that. The fact that he cannot clearly see a clip is just insane.

Broke our guys leg and it's no big deal to the UGA guy.

The point is it was a dirty play. There SHOULD be some type of punishment for it. He should be out until Tuttle gets back healthy.

Yes it is. Yes they do. I hope so too.

What is the precedent? Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Sure, Butch can submit film to the league office and they'll say, "So sorry. We missed one." if..............they say anything. There are penalties during the game for this kind of stuff. Watch our pulling guards on those Jet sweeps. They are blocking at the knees on those D ends and linebackers as well. Stuff happens. I hate that it happened to our guy and to their guy as well. But...........we can't be whining about dirty play whenever one of our guys goes down. 300+ pounders aren't ballet dancers.

Regardless, until somebody shows me a rule that requires the other guy to sit out as long as the guy he injured is out, this is much ado about nothing.

I don't think we can assume it was meant to be dirty. I think dirty and cheap are two different things. Cheap to me is when a player simply makes a quick action without thinking breaking the rules of the game (Holding or a minor foul). Dirty has more of a darker connatation to me, like if a player clearly is trying to injure someone with an action that clearly isn't in the sport usually. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference, but I really believe it's an important difference. Sometimes players react on an impulse in a split second and make a cheap shot. Some players go out and have a habit of hurting others (Suh for example).

I saw more of a cheap hit. The UGA player lost his block, tried to hold Shy, and as a last ditch effort tossed himself at the player. It's clearly a cheap shot. I don't know if we can assume he had intent (dirty hit) to actually aim for the knees. Either way it doesn't belong on the field.

How did you view it when one of the UGA linemen attempted to do the same thing to Owen Williams later in the game? Seemed like a pattern to me. Luckily Owen wasn't seriously hurt.

Dontavious Blair is not getting a whole lot of reps on the offensive line......... If I was the UT coaching staff, I would consider moving him and Mosely to the defensive line for depth purposes.

That didn't happen at least not on the play that Robinson was injured on. He was tackled by two players simultaneously. Nobody held him up.

Your comparing apples to oranges. When our guards pull the DE and LB are looking straight at them. They don't have their back to the guards and get blocked in the back of the knees.

I honestly didn't see that second one that you're referring to. I was lucky to catch the first one. I was stuck in the living room talking to my wife's parents with the game on mute in the background. Had to really focus not to yell sometimes during the game lol.

The Georgia center aimed for his knees. Chubb hurt his knee landing out of bounds. His knee tore impacting the ground

That's gotta be tough on the big guy after having an impressive freshman year. Prayers to him and wish him a speedy and full recovery.
