Should Tim Banks be replaced at end of season?

To be fair guys…….he’s asking.

Giving his thoughts and simply asking questions……..thus providing us another thread to comment on.

Good threads……..should be exactly like this.

Banks has done a hell of a job with the roster he has. If you can't see that you don't know anything about the sport

I know a lot about the sport, actually. I think Banks has done a good job. Tonight, though, was quite bad. Do you think he stubbornly stuck with a system tonight that just wasn't working? Any criticism of him, or is it all on the players?

I think he should stay. What coach Banks has done with this depleated roster has me excited for the future . For the first time in a long time we are seeing development. Now does he make some calls that make you think wtf ? Absolutely . But the boys play hard for him and when he lets them play with their hair on fire they make some impressive plays . I do think some of the drop coverage no pressure 3rd down calls need to change but I also know just enough about football to be stupid lol. But OP I do think he will grow alot as a play caller when the depth is better and as time goes on. The last KY drive coach Banks realized he had to change up and he turned them loose and they got pressure and got the stop. Its nice to see a coach not be to stubborn to change up even if it was at the end of the game he still changed and it helped us win. So I believe in this whole staff and with a few key pieces added here and there on defense coach Banks will field a pretty darn good defense .

OleVolFan, what is wrong with you? Go back and read (if you actually do know how) my OP. I do not have a "bubble" and I am not calling for Banks's job, but merely proposing a discussion with pros and cons, based on a bad defensive performance tonight that could be construed as his fault, and/or as consistent with a previous pattern. If someone wants to provide reasonable refutation of the idea that he should be fired, great. Go for it. That is why I raised the point. I am not saying the man should be fired.

Your knee-jerk need to lash out at an idea you disagree with is unworthy of an older person, who should know better. You're supposed to have accumulated some wisdom about how to speak and discourse by now.

You do realize the Defense was on the Field for 3 full Quarters tonight Correct?? NO Defense is Gonna play Great in those Circumstances I don't care who they are! They did pretty Damn well under those Circumstances! KY was Playing HARD on Offense and was just Gassing our D!

Really the only thing I don't like is our zone coverage. It is easily the worst zone coverage I've ever seen. That's why we give up so many third down conversion, that plus QB draws.

Overall though, he's done a great job. Once we get more talent in there, plus more depth, I think we'll look even better.

The modern age of college football: have one bad game and fans call for your dismissal, or just one fan who is subsequently roasted in the comments.

It might be more of a commentary on people today who can't actually have reasoned discussions but only know how to insult, without even actually understanding what was originally said. You might even be in that category since you think I was calling for the coach's dismissal.

I'm going to have to step away from you, fella. You clearly didn't read my original post, nor do you have the emotional maturity that you ought to have as an older person in life. Bye.

You made a stupid post, it happens to all of us from time to time. Collect your dignity and log off Volnation for a couple of days, this too shall pass.

Yes, I know, my VN friends: (1) "We just won a big game, why go negative?" (I'm not being negative, this is just a question in direct response to our objectively bad defensive play) (2) "The D just had a huge TOP discrepancy, they were gassed!" (Agreed, but were they partly gassed because our coaching scheme didn't get them off the field?) (3) "We are low on scholarships and bodies who can play!" Yes, again, I know all that. My question (and it's just a question, not a call for a march on the athletic facility with torches or for a nocturnal visit to the rock with spray paint) is this: DOES TIM BANKS's DEFENSIVE SCHEME HOLD US BACK? Are we going to be able get to the next level with this lack of pressure from our 3 man rushes and infrequent blitzing or stunting, combined with a soft zone in the second and third levels? This impotent combo seems to give the opposing QB that extra second to find the receiver who turns and sits down in a hole in the secondary or breaks into a gap between our flat-footed DBs.

So do we stick with our guy and hit the portal for better players? Or do we find a coach with a better scheme (and still hit that portal)?
I don’t think hash and liquor are a good idea for you

No, I think I'll stick around, thank you. Fortunately, your assertion about the stupidity of the post does not make it so. In fact, that might even reflect more poorly on you than anything I've said here. Consider that, and the truth of it may dawn upon you if you stick with it long enough. Good luck, jackaro.

I was so pissed on that stupid defensive call on 4th and 24 that I wanted him fired immediately but of course that’s ridiculous. I was just mad because it was a dumb call and you could see it coming a mile away. He’s done well this year. Very well actually. I’ve been pleased by the offense but truly shocked by our defense prior to tonight. Rough game tonight but it happens and we still found a way to win.

This game was an anomaly. UK came prepared and executed. I credit them. In the end the defense came up with big plays that sealed the game.

I personally have been pleasantly surprised by the defense this year. It’s been very solid at times. It they were bad tonight. Really bad. And a big part of it was the scheme. We almost never brought pressure. And the prevent on 4h and 24 was one of the worst play calls I’ve ever seen. We need to run our normal defense there. It wasn’t the last play of the game with .02 seconds left on the clock knowing they’d have to lateral etc. it was sooooo dumb. Also, please god let us find someone enter to play than Beasley. He was honest to god the worst linebacker tonight that I’ve ever seen suite up for us in a game.

I’m still shocked at how soft the D looked. They were getting manhandled
