OK. Let's set that aside. Keep gun regulations just as is.

Serious question to you because I don't think we are that far apart on a lot of things and we all want this to stop: what is the smartest thing we could do that actually make a difference?

I have waited for years for any suggestions from the GOP but all they have come up with is blame. It's that damn rock n roll music and video games and of course the Dems.

Nobody here wants to ban guns or end liberty. I don't think China could take East Tennessee in a fair ground war, much less the small group of furthest left liberals who actually want to gun grab--but have never shot a gun.

You're right. Understanding that unpredictability of human nature is at the root of the issue, the next area to 'target' is the other constant in the equation of 'crazy people with guns' .

Any modicum of success will need to address both facets, saying guns isn't the issue is ignoring the fact that the vegas killer wasn't launching pillows from a trebuchet off the 14th floor. Gun control advocates are going to need to come to the realization that restricting gun rights through legislation is only going to infringe on the law abiding. So long as both sides remain inflexible, the problem will continue.

I may be off base, but a generation growing up on rootin' tootin' shootin' violent video games can't help the brain out a whole lot.That is the solution on these games. Couple that with extremist views.

Despising a segment of the population does not justify shooting them up. I am not in favor of illegal immigration or any monetary support of it the US hands out freely. But, shootings? I'm also not in favor of portraying Trump as someone who encourages and condones this. Columbine and others all happened well before Trump. It's a societal disorder and its horrible.

Figure out what leads people to commit these terrible acts, what are the contributing factors, are there any commonalities then work to fix the root(s) of the why this happens. Fixing the reason for the violence is the only way to stop it, the instrument used is inconsequential.

There were plenty of senseless killing centuries ago in places where adherence to the gospels was mandatory.
