My favorite quote from the PSU board, for many, many reasons:
"This is a small time staff learning what big time football coaching is all about in real time. They are free to go back to Vandy where they can all be heroes for mediocrity if they are going to cry about it. Shoop is the lone all-star coach on this staff when it comes to X's and O's and that definitely includes Franklin."
If it was 800 grand coming in I make it an even million going out if he leaves before the 3 years is up.
These reports make absolutely no sense... UT knew there was an $800k buyout, why even bother interviewing Shoop if you aren't planning on paying it. They knew they would pay it to get their guy IMO... The only hurdle I can see after that is structure, length and amount of the contract. And they had to have an idea of the price range it would cost per year. And if true as some have suggested, Shoop reached out to CBJ weeks ago, so I'm sure he was a little more flexible in negotiations as well. This is all speculation and opinion on my part on what makes sense before you even think about flying someone in for an interview.
According to the FlightRadar24.com replay I watched , It left this morning from Knoxville going back to State College. N91HT.
No doubt they blocked the tail number of the flight plan back to PA and that is why its not showing up on FlightAware. Just because the plane he flew down on does not have a flight plan showing up on FlightAware doesnt mean that plane is still at Knox airport.
And of course UT has other planes available.
As someone else pointed out, they could have blocked it coming down but since there was no way he was coming into town unnoticed and because it likely was going to be good news, they chose to let it "fly" unblocked.
The marketing genius of BJ tells me he knew exactly what he was doing here............and now.
Who is going after Hoke, UT or pen State? Sorry if it has been stated else where. Thanks
Penn. state. Supposedly he would be the first choice and some are even saying he will be there tomorrow, Sunday to negotiate. I am also now seeing that if indeed we (UT) are trying to wait till Monday to release info penn state will blow it open before we do. Some grapes are really getting sour too.

Flight Aware has the plane still here, so I checked FR24 and sure enough, that plane is in State College.
