Section AA last night

For @#$%'s sake people its a football game. If you want to sit down the whole time you can have an unobstructed view from your couch. And you won't ruin it for those of us who like to have a good time.

I disagree 100%. We had some idiots in our section two years ago that stood the whole game. As I recall they were a pair of Georgia fans. It is typically some yokel who comes to one game every three or four years, that doesn't understand the flow of the game, etc. who feels the need to stand the entire time. I sit with several former players and parents of current players who are huge Vol fans yet have some how resisted the temptation to stand for the entire game. I guess they are just not true Vol fans. I must not be in the "stand the entire game" section because other than the one Georgia couple, I have not seen anyone stand the entire game in the past 5 or 6 years, again in my section.

We are on our feet 20% to 25 % of the time but seated 75 % to 80% of the time as the ebb and flow dictate. Everyone in my section must have it wrong because everyone seems to stand at the appropriate times.

Shockingly too, we have a younger group of Vol fans so I have also avoided the Blue Hair section somehow.

I would like to inquire, what would be the percentage of people that you estimate are standing in the entire stadium for the entire game?

I guess I am just going to have to classify you guys as "Special" Vol fans. I salute you "Special" standing Vol fan. Long may you demonstrate your knowledge and expertise and enthusiasm for the game. You likely consider yourself one of the coaches and without your die hard standing no doubt the team would surely falter. So I lift my glass up to you "Special" standing Vol fan. You have an inaliable right granted by the Constitution of this great country to be rude and by golly, no form of common sense reasoning will deter you from your right.

I also spelled inaliable wrong. Any help here would be appreciated.

Just my opinion.

Likewise it seems you are the one that claims to be the all knowing fan with the perfect stand/sit ratio. 100,000 people on there arses are the reason that Neyland isn't as intimidating as it once was IMO.

If you want to sit the entire game and complain about people standing.......

A.) Get seats on the front row
B.) Stay at home
C.) Go to a bar (though, be careful, people stand at bars)

Front row seats are the bomb anywhere you go. This doesn't necessarily mean the VERY front row. Pretty much anywhere that there's nothing in front of you other than a guard rail.

The next time someone complains about someone standing, offer to trade seats with them. Problem solved. They get better seats and you get to stand until your knees lock. It's a win-win situation.

I was in AA 5 through 8. If you were the one standing and yelling at Kiff getting a look at where his weak spots for recruiting needs on D in a meaningless game that was COMPLETELY under control and using the frat house language, then you were being obnoxious. I stand, I sit, I yell my arse off and I know when to do each. Alot of what I heard coming from you exhibited a serious lack of FB knowledge. However, it's your right to stand and cheer. More power to ya. But using some of the language you were using in the neighborhood of seats 12 and 13 (or so) was uncomfortable to hear when surrounded by ladies. That's a southern thing. You can do that in a living room with your bro's, but a little respect would be appropriately circumspect and honor what our great southern state stands for. That is, if it was you I speak of.

If people are standing, stand.

If people are sitting, sit.

Nothing worse than a rude person. And that goes both ways. There are rude people who stand every play. Then there are people who rude and yell at people to sit down instead of just being cordial and asking nicely.

To stand out of spite, is to be ignorant. Way to take yourself down to their level.

And FYI, I think you're in the wrong.

No thanks needed.

ME??

The student section is the only place I can do a game. Football is a standing spectator sport. That's just me though. I even stand in my living room for TV games.

So it sounds like if I understand correctly, we have a Yankee from Boston, who is using profanities and standing
the entire game, intentionally being rude and determined to do the opposite of what all his fellow Vol fans in that section would like so that they might also enjoy the game.

Here's to you "special" standing Vol fan.:hi:http://www.volnation.com/forum/images/smilies/default/hi.gif

It's illegal to cuss in front of women and children in Michigan. So, I would not say its just a southern thing.

i assure you that a degree from a private institution of higher learning will take you much farther than the local hardees. those positions are reserved for people like you that struggled to earn their GED.

Also a good job for English Majors...:ermm:

General rule- Stand on D the whole time, sit on O. If they get mad at you, who cares? Tell them you'll sit when we get the ball back, and if they get up to yell to, maybe that will happen faster. I do think standing the entire game is a little ridiculous, and believe me, if I was in front of you, you'd think it too. (I'm basketball tall.)
At Titans games people would call the ushers to try to make me sit, but the ushers would just laugh at the old folks when they said 'make him sit down'. It is not illegal to stand the whole game if you want. I sat near the front, and I'd find a lot of my section would stand behind me, chain-reaction style. Get the people in the front up, then the people in the back will have no one to yell at. The team will appreciate it.

If you think a degree from an obscure private college is going to buy you any more groceries than a degree from UT or UGA or a myriad of other public schools, then you are in for an unpleasant surprise. It might mean something in Bristol, but go to any major city like Atlanta, Washington, New York, etc. and look for a job and see what you get.

yelling and cheerins standing up is half the fun at the games i drive 5 hours everytime we go to a game GO VOLS

If most people are standing, everyone else should stand, provided they are able. If everyone else is sitting down, everyone should be sitting down, unless it's half time or between plays or something like that. After all, that is what seats are for.

The only time its ever acceptable to sit down is halftime. I am a student though, and we have completely different rules.

I don't stand for the entire game, but if I would like to stand up and cheer my team on I have the right to do so! If there is an exciting moment of the game you should stand up! If you need to sit down the whole game then you should stay at home and watch it on t.v. from your couch or get front row seats for yourself. If someone yells at me to sit down it makes me want to stand up in spite!

I haven't read through all the posts but I hope you got absolutely FLAMED b/c of that stupid *** comment.

I have got to say that tv timeouts count for sitting also. Also, quiet on O, loud as hell on D. Usually lose my voice in the third quarter if I am yelling hard so I try to save my voice more than I used to.

Touchy subject!

If the people in front of me sit. I sit.
If the people in front of me stand. I stand.

My seats now are closer to student section. A guy behind me was yelling "down in front" to me.

If there are 5,000 people directly in front of me standing, what am I supposed to do?

That being said, I have had two guys stand in front of me, and no one else in the section was standing.

I guess you have to play it by ear.

Bottom line for me is, I paid to get in. I'm going to do what I have to do to see the game. If that means standing the whole time. So be it.
