I hope none of you ever sit in my section.... too much drama!

I only remember a couple times being asked to sit down. Even when it's polite, it's annoying. They need to have sections for old folks who want to sit the whole game. I also think they should have a young alumni/fan section for people who want to stand and yell the entire game. Some schools have sections at discounted season ticket prices for recent alumni.

This started out as a discussion about rude fans yelling at people to sit down during games. After you stated your opinion, and realized you are in the minority, you pull the spelling and trailer card. I think your motive on VolNation is to try to make up for your "real" pathetic life and try to make everybody feel stupid and below you. Nice going man, you should win the smartest, richest, most educated, message board poster of the year award. Can I have your autograph? Just don't spell your name wrong.

Everybody pays their ticket price. Nobody has the right to tell someone else to sit, just to accomodate themselves.

and it was surprisingly sustained for quite a while

Last night or maybe during the Kentucky game would have been perfect nights to have the stadium announcer tell everyone that the wave is outlawed. I wouldn't want visiting Florida, Bama or UGA fans in the stadium listenng to this message and laughing themselves to death.

Pathetic...

Come to think of it, the upper north endzone would be a great place for the crowd that likes to sit. It's covered, so they wouldn't have to worry about the weather as much. Only problem is that a lot of these people have had season tickets forever, so they have good sideline seats.

I wonder if all fanbases bicker between each other like the vols' does ... Also I think some folks missed Bill's point in the beginning, which was to be courteous to all those around you. Something the south used to take pride in :/

Is the majority always right? You stated the entire two rows behind you were yelling at you and your group to sit down. Sounds like you were in the minority there.

Amen, brother. Bill is only in the minority because the people that agree with him are so sure of their position they see no point in arguing with arrogant, pompous folks.

being asked to sit at a football game is ridiculous. i get so excited i jump up and stand at home or at the bar. football is an exciting game especially when the vols are playing. some people do take it to the extreme about standing but thats their right. they paid for the tickets too. bill really needs to get a grip on life. name calling is what 6 year olds do! thats just childish in my opinion.

It's a proven fact that people who can't spell are more likely to live in trailers than those that can. Since it has already been established that you can't spell, and in addition that you are rude and arrogant, I can come to no other conclusion. And if you did indeed graduate from college, then I think that particular institution should definitely have their accreditation pulled, unless it was one of those internet degrees.

Ah yes, the old scientific trailer park study. Although spelling was bad, math was the worst. According to the study, 9 out of 10 trailer residents were not able to add large numbers. 7 out of 10 had to pull their shoes off in order to add small numbers. The study also proved conclusively that these individuals are much more likely to chew tobacco, drink moonshine, see UFO's (especially after drinking the moonshine) and shoot their double barrel shotguns into the air.

LOL @ the literature contest this thread turned into.

No one is grading your posts guys.

And if you're really that pissed off about people rudely telling you to sit down then just threaten them. Yell about how you've been drinking whiskey all day and you're here to cheer, stand, or fight. Or quote Tombstone or something. There's not enough fights in Neyland anyway.

And if you're really that pissed off about people rudely standing in front of you then get a kid (preferably a younger child) to walk up to them, tug on their shirt, and say "excuse me mister, can you please sit so a young volunteer can see the game?" Only a person with a cold soul would deny the child their viewing. If they are still acting like a jackass then just threaten them. Yell about whiskey and how people standing remind you of your abusive past and you get violent when people stand. Stuff like that.

I think both scenarios would produce great results.

I was told to sit down last night during 3rd down. On defense.

If the kid behind me can't see, let him stand up. The season ticket holders around us dump off their tickets every week. The way I see it, they're a guest in the section. If we want to stand up during THIRD down, or a big defensive series, they can stand up, too. Or better yet, move to the empty visitors' section. Plenty of space to sit on your hands with unimpeded views of the game. The folks behind us didn't make so much as a peep before asking me to sit. Not for good plays, or bad.

I sat down only because I was doing the Alumni Band thing and had my band gear on. These "fans" were gone when I returned from half-time. I'll sit down much of the time, but good God, not on defense!

I like the guy that casually stands up during a play to stretch and then, oblivious to the play on the field, continues to stand to check his phone messages. Then, continues to stand while he gazes around the stadium at the crowd.

Other than that guy, I don't care if you stand in front of me during a play. Unless you are an idiot and stand up and start making lots and lots of noise while Tennessee is running a third and short play. I am constantly amazed by how many UT fans think they are supposed to make noise when we have the ball and especially on crucial plays. Maybe its just me.

Exactly, i believe the rule is as long as your not standing on the bench its ok. With that said I try to act like the ppl around me, but at times i cant help it.

To the earlier post, before the trailer trash conversation, on 3rd and 1 everyone should be standing. Otherwise enjoy the game from your living room.

There is absolutely no reason to stand the entire game, or for the majority of the game for that matter.

If it makes you feel like a better fan to stand up, then good for you, just don't ruin others' experiences around you.

Its a football game.

If you don't like people standing in front of you, "pony up", and get some front row seats.

I've heard stories on here about fans telling other fans to sit down and be quiet, but it's never happened to me until last night. I've never been so ashamed of the people around me at a game than last night.

At the beginning kick off my wife and I were standing and cheering and continued to stand while Tennessee got the ball.

Almost the whole two rows behind us started freaking out screaming at us to sit down. Of course we didn't and they just kept going and going and going and going. Finally I lost it and told everyone of them what I thought of them, one guy in particular, and it was awful. A couple beside me drove 5 hours to come and watch the game and were being yelled at as well, and she was drivin to tears because of these idiot people.

One guy even said he was going to get the ushers to kick us out because we wouldn't sit down. What a shame.:furious3:

My Gosh... People that choose to come to a football game at neyland stadium need to understand that its an outdoor Football Game not an Opera... We are rated in the top 5 in loudest stadiums because of fans... Those People need to Choose to stay home and watch it on tv if they want silence.. What is this world coming to.. You can come over to section Z12 and yell, hollar, high fives whatever you want to do... We have a blast and cheer on our team to victory
