So you’re saying Hargis just decided to make sh*t up? Because he specially says he was told by Vic Grider that Gruden asked him if he wanted to be a part of the staff.

I dont have anything against knucklehead, but this love affair with idea of Gruden coaching at UT has to stop somewhere. He was never coming here and never will.

I feel he thinks he was told something, but jumped the gun and in reality it was nothing.

Grider loves him some Grider as well. He's confident like all good coaches are. He could have been shooting off a bit and Hargis believed it as truth.

He was never coming because Hart and certain big money donors. Offer was on the table, He laid out his terms, they were denied. La Confora reported first hand what we heard thru two NFL insider sources. Our big money has too much say so, and Dave Hart didn't want to give anybody total control over the program. Charlie Strong also jumped ship for the exact same reason.

If you think a sec school would hire a high school coach from a class A team then you are in a dream world. Coach Grider is a great class A coach but it ends there.

He is also, perhaps, the most respected high school coach in the state. We desperately needed help with recruiting within the state post-Dooley. It would have been a very shrewd move for any incoming coach, but grider wouldn't have done it for just anyone.

Again, he wasn’t being brought on as a coach. He was being hired as recruiting liaison to help repair the relationships between UT and high school coaches in the state.
