Ruby Whitehorn cited for simple possession after game

It's interesting she was caught with 5.59 grams, which is a misdemeanor in Tennessee. 5.6 grams would be considered a felony.
Sounds like she already got a break. I hate it but Kim needs make the tough call to let her go.

Is that what I was acting like? 🙄
I don't know were you? Just a true statement not directed at you ..I read the article..

Edit: everyone knows the law enforcement manipulates things when you're a athlete...it's not a hidden topic.

Whitehorn was on probation from prior event earlier. This event will cause her to be violated by probation officer..

Also reading the article Kim set very strict rules and guidelines for her to abide by and while they are gathering information this doesn’t look good 😩 Praying for her and her family but also this might be Kim’s first major test in the program. She stated that the legacy and program are very important came before all but i also know that she doesn’t want to give up on a player. The next decision she makes will set the tone/expectation moving forward. Current players, recruits, and family will look at this as she has had to already address it in recruiting this summer she said…

By the way… I think Kim didn’t right thing allowing her back on the team. If I were Kim, this incident would warrant removing her from the team.
Many moons ago she would be thrown off the team. These days coaches have empathy for the players and try to help them in every way possible.

Run her still she pukes and don't let her see the floor during games for 1st half of the season.. then make sure she knows if your ONE second late for practice or class you're gone. Then of course you better keep your nose clean.

What do that already happened when she was removed from the team the first time? I hate this for her but if Kim addressed this the first time when families and recruits asked what will she do the second time around?

I’m all for Ruby getting what she needs and support but this is a tough situation.

What she did the first time was absolutely the right thing. Most people want to know if they make a mistake they will be allowed to work through it. Just hope she gets her life and priorities in order.

who did it make us lose out on in recruiting?
I don’t anything but I recall Kim answering some questions and Rubys situation came up and she spoke on areas that it has affected and she said “it certainly has not helped in recruiting”. That has stuck with me and I often wonder if that situation kinda changed the trajectory of what the recruiting class would could’ve been. Again I don’t know anything but this post reminded of coache’s comments

The problem is that women's athletes are typically held to a higher standard than, say, football players who can literally play a role in someone losing their life and still not get kicked off the team.

You may not be aware of the fact that the Lady Vols have historically been held to an even HIGHER standard than most, and it has always been a selling point for the program, and a point of pride for all the players who've come up through it.

Lady Vol head coaches expect more from players, and players who worry maybe the LV standard may be kinda silly or not to be taken seriously, just need to sign to play somewhere else. Giving yet another chance when the line had already been so clearly drawn in the sand could be viewed by parents of potential recruits as being program malpractice.

I feel for her and her mom. You know they have both worked hard to put her in this position to succeed, but it looks like she has some problems she needs to focus on fixing before she can move forward.

Basketball aside, the main thing is to get those problems worked out so she doesn't sabotage herself in life. And it looks like it will take some pretty stiff consequences to get her attention. So very sad.

I agree let her back the first time. This time is the tough decision… I’ve coached at the high school level and had to make some tough calls i can’t imagine this for this coaching staff.

My thoughts and prayers are that whatever is going on she comes out better not eh other side! I like Ruby.

I always wonder what happened with Lindsay Harding back in the day she had been warned at Duke with Gail G and she made her redshirt and earn her trust back.

Really don't know why you're coming at me. I understand you're upset but I'm not the enemy here but in your eyes I may be... You have a nice night. I'm going drop this conversation before I get pissed off .. I am very aware of the Lady Vols standards...

Let's not act like the weight of the marijuana can't be manipulated by the cops. 5.59 grams for Whitehorn is 5.6 for an average person off the street all day long....best wishes for the young Lady and hope she gets her stuff together...
Thays not alot of weed 28 grams is an once and in va u can't have over that

I just don’t think weed is that big of a deal. But I understand that she already was on thin ice and it makes her and the program look bad. I’ll support whatever Coach decides. Selfishly I hope she is just suspended for a month or two.
that’s my thing. if this was an independent thing, a slap on the wrist would suffice. since she had her previous problems, kim has to be smart with how she goes about this.

Especially since she said she already had to address the first issue and how it was being dealt with in the recruiting trail this past summer 👀 That’s the big thing for me. Do those recruits and parents look back at her and whatever she told them and say ok we are watching to see how you are handling this.

at the end of the day, they are going to do what is best for the program as a whole. i’m sure that’s going to take ruby and the future of the program into consideration. maybe im very gullible, but i truly think ruby is a great person, just can’t get out of her own head. hopefully this wakes her up.

I get it. I’m torn. Pat knew what she was doing.
