I think everybody agrees that a high class ranking in recruiting alone isn't going to do all it takes to even go to a BCS Bowl or bowl game. There are too many pieces of the puzzle especially to pull off a BCS Championship. Luck is right at the top of that (right bama?), and thanks Arkansas! Many of these top guys don't even make the field, get injured, can't make grades, pulling guns on people, etc..... then coaching comes into play. Someone could fill up a page FULL of the variables. The reason I read this thread to whoever mentioned it was simply to make this point. The reason I made this point is because some people are under the impression if we get a #1 recruiting class or even top 10 recruiting class we've won some kind of award or something. It's only part of the equation, but helps to have GREAT TEAM PLAYERS, with the right attitude, good work ethics in school and on the field. I enjoy this process too and have been following the recruiting part of it as long as I've followed The Vols. I have to admit that I enjoyed it a LOT more in they previous years than I have in the past few. Tennessee use to have a leg up on most schools since we would travel across the country for players, but now everybody does it. Yea, Fla St and UT use to always be at the top. USC wasn't in the top for a good while there if I remember right. Someone find the web address that shows the top 5 recruiting schools for the past 10-20 years. There has to be some kind of archive online but I can't seem to find it. Go Vols.
