Rivals class ranking

Having a top 10 class means nothing to me. Even Fulmer (check history) had top 10 classes very often, also top 5 classes very often, TOP class many times as well. This was before everybody learned to use the computer and twitter and myspace and etc... to get recruits. Sometimes it is best to get the under rated players that play as a TEAM. Having a top recruiting class doesn't mean you are going to win all of the time or even make it to a BCS. To me recruiting rankings are just a conversation piece. Doesn't mean we are going to win or lose.

Top recruiting rankings mean almost everything to me. Otherwise, I would have nothing to do until September!

Negative Vol fans should take note of this. What does it say about you as a fan if Florida fans have to remind you of your identity?

That they are getting bored of kicking our ass and having their SOS and computer rankings damaged by such?

Let's look at Virginia Tech as an example. They rarely have top 10 recruiting classes, and yet produce on the field every year. If Dooley and staff can evaluate talent and develop it, a top 10 class is not necessarily a requirement to win games.

Schools like Virginia Tech have had consistency in a coaching staff for years with Beamer and recruit their type players to fit the system they run regardless of star power. They have quality depth at all positions.

It's going to take a couple years to have a quality 2 deep rotation in every position for UT to make a real run at an SEC championship due to the physical nature of this conference week in/out.

If Dooley stays 5 plus years and recruits the type players he needs to run his system, then you will see Tennessee consistently competing for Sec/National Championships.

That was how I always felt about Nebraska in their prime. They got a bunch of big farm boys who played 7man football and coached them up.
