Replacement for CBJ - Scott Frost

I don't necessarily buy the Mullen quote. Yeah he may be comfortable there but he's not going to have consistent success of being at the top. Atleast at TN or FL, he would have the resources/recruiting to be top of the East year in and year out.
All depends on what he wants. Maybe he would rather be in a place that doesn't have such high expectations where he can live like a king with very little pressure as compared to the larger programs.

I think Frost's heart takes him back to Lincoln.

I tell you I have really been warming to what Campbell has done with those 2* and low 3* recruits at Iowa State...beating two Top 5 teams in a month is great (TCU and @Oklahoma).

I also think Fuente is a no brainer hire as well.

After that...assuming Mullen goes to FL, then names like Norvell, Pruit and Brohm come to mind.

Could be a huge market for Head Coaches too: Ark, aTm, Fl, TN, LSU?, Vandy?, FSU?, Nebraska, UCLA?, etc.

We'd better get an early start!

maybe.....

I still think a veteran coach who has coached in the SEC at a high level would be the quickest way back to competing in the SEC east war.

Les Miles

If Miles becomes UT HC then I’m out. He is a moron......and anyone who thinks he is a good coach is equally challenged. He could not win at LSU with MORE talent and a richer recruiting territory than UT has. What makes anyone think he could be successful with less talent? He’s bullheaded about his boring offense and repeatedly displayed an inability to develop a QB which is what got him fired.....sound familiar? I’m too old to already be looking ahead 4-5 years for the next prospect if Miles walks through the door next December.

Age has nothing to do with the coaching job but knowledge on how to win the SEC and the NC does. I can say the same thing for a younger coach. Remember we have had 3 younger coaches and what has that gotten us. Nothing but a pile of disappointments. Les Miles has 8-10 years left in him and he wants to go out a winner and I would think he would hire the best support staff he could find. Experience on how to win in the SEC is the most important quality...

The Les Miles who was good enough to win a national championship no longer exists. Coaches do not remain static over time, their ability can and quite often does decline as they get older.

Why would you hire Les Miles with Fulmer still on campus? Their resumes are very similar, and so are their strengths and weaknesses. Miles make zero sense to me. If you want Miles, just rehire Fulmer.

Why not? Just curious. UCF can be the Boise State of the east. Chris Peterson made BSU relevant. They just didn't win the games they needed to. Winning fixes everything.

Actually, the more I think about it, he can make a yuge impact at UCF, because he can take recruits away from FU, FSU and Miami. Then just win.

Or do you think UCF will always be a second tier team?

There was a time when FSU was firmly a second tier team. It happens.

Back when you could be relevant as an Independent. Outside of Notre Dame, if you don’t join a P5 conference, you’re swimming upstream in a lead vest.

I don't think he would be learning on the job here. It seems like he already has what it takes to win now. I say he would be a big time coach "one day" because the only piece he's missing is a big time program. He already has the chops.

Exactly...Dabo has been embraced by Clemson. The only job he would leave for is Bama, and I doubt he would leave for that.

:)Obviously Florida is going for Dan Mullen. Why not UT for Scott Frost? Frost is directly responsible for the success of Chip Kelly...forget Kelly go for Frost. He has a track record on offense and can improve QB's. The NFL Titans have a Frost produced QB. UT can afford him if our AD will get off his butt and do something.

Saying Frost is directly responsible for Kelly's success is bit of a stretch. But a very good candidate indeed. My top 3 as of right now would be

1.) Matt Cambell i think he is our best bet. If dude can beatg 2 top 5 teams in the same month at Iowa State its a safe bet he can win where ever he goes.

2.) Scott Frost. I think the work hes done at UCF with limited Talent is pretty good. I would like to see how he fares against tougher opponents.

3.) Lane Kiffin. Im sure i will catch flak for saying that. But the truth is we can get him absolutely dirt cheap. We already know he would hire the best staff available to help him here at UT. I cant really fault the man for leaving UT to go to his DREAM JOB. Louisville let Bobby Petrino come back. I dont see why we couldnt get Lane another shot.

You were doing so well until you got to point #3. Matt and Scott would be excellent candidates. Matt definitely gets the edge.

LK as OC under Miles, Frost, or Mullen would turn this program around.

Why would LK leave as a HC to go back to being an OC? He was already OC at the top with Alabama so you think it's logical he would step down as a head coach and take a lesser position than he had beforehe became a HC??

Miles would also be near the top of my list, although a lot of people on here don't like him for some reason.

Les is old. The other schools would recruit against you saying he isn't gonna be there long.

I really don't know how to feel about Les Miles. On the one hand he was going to be fired the year before his actual termination, but the Tigers won a very emotional game against Texas A&M at the end of the year which swayed the players and some fans' opinion. The administration at LSU changed their minds and kept him for 2016. After losing at Auburn pushing his record to 2-2, he was officially fired. His record in the last 29 games is 19-10 which to me is unacceptable given the talent he apparently had on these teams. On the other hand, he had spectacular success at LSU, but he looked to be trending down. How much of his early success was riding the coattails of Nick Saban? Not sure. :ermm:

When Scott Frost has to practically beg students to come watch an undefeated team leading the nation in scoring, when there’s a stadium right on campus...no 30 minute drive to the Citrus Bowl anymore...it’s clear UCF will always be a second tier team.

Ok but you won’t like it but I stand behind it enough to forgo UT football, all of CFB actually, if it doesn’t happen. This is totally and completely independent of all the “grumors”.

1. Gruden
2. Kelly

No. One. Else.

Anyone else that has already been mentioned will only get us, at best, 2nd in the SECE. No thanks.

What's not to like. Fine to dream. My dream hire is Fuente. If he says not, I'd rather see UT go for proven. Names that might be watched are Mullen, Schiano and maybe even MAlzahn.
