I've said that since before the season. I'm ok with a little inexperience on the defensive side because Pruitt is your real defensive coordinator. He should have went major experience on the o side, even if it was a debord type.I think it’s somehting that needs to be done tho. Think about this from our staff last year:
HC- 1st time
OC- only fully for 2 years at a cupcake
DC-one full year at a cupcake.
We could use some more experience in our high responsibility positions. Hiring freeze or any coach with HC and/or extensive coordinator experience would help a lot.
No way it's not a huge positive on the recruiting trail.I've stated my concerns as well. I'm not concerned so much about the longevity of it so much. We could use a quick fix. And, I think he could tutor the next OC, Osovet. My concern is what affect it would have on the recruiting trail. There's no way to know. Like I said earlier, opposing coaches would hire freeze in a minute if they could would also trash another program for doing it.
I’ve heard that Pruitt is very adamant on having solely an OL coach. So that would explain why friend was never the OC to begin with. OC and OL coach is a lot of work. Not that other positions aren’t but some people even have 2 OL coaches.
I think Pruitt has to do some evaluating and ask himself whether the offensive identity he wants is doable anytime soon or whether he'd be better off handing the offense over to someone who will adapt to what we have on the roster for the next season or two until we have better talent/depth in the trenches and at RB.He’s not a long term guy here at OC, is Pruitt willing to sacrifice the identity he wants for a 1-2 year rental? Not sure.
These are what i for sure know:
-Freeze really wants the job.
-Pruitt has interest in hiring him.
-A couple “power players” are hesitant about his past and what SEC/NCAA/Media could say about it.
-early signing day is coming up and freeze isn’t busy and can be on the road recruiting ASAP, no buy out etc.
I feel comfortable enough in saying i believe Freeze will be on campus at some point this week and meet with who he needs to do to try and “prove he’s ready for a shot” per say.
How long do Coordinators stay anywhere these days? I think 2-3 years is the normFreeze is a huge name that fans would go crazy over but I would have several huge red flags that would concern me tbh
