Starting QB next time UT wins the SEC East:

A. Guarantano
B. Shrout
C. Mauer
D. Player not yet on campus

Call me crazy but if this team continues to progress the way they have thus far they should be able to compete for the east as early as next season. Our offense is literally going to return everyone, if we close strong on the recruiting front we will definitely have a top 20 recruit at one of the tackle spots next year maybe at both spots and I would expect a defense in the 2nd year of Pruitt's system to run like a well oiled machine.

All of this with Georgia being on the decline (yes I believe this and will elaborate if needed), Mizzou loses Lock, UK loses Snell but that defense should still be pretty good, SCAR is still going to be stagnant and Vandy is going to be Vandy. Florida will be the biggest threat and I believe we should have the experience in the system and horses to run well with them next season.

It's not too improbable that we have a legitimate chance at taking the East next season.

the problem next year is the DL...we'll have #'s, but we really don't know what we have as far as what to expect production wise.

not sure why you think GA is on the decline (and i'm not really sure i wanna heare the reasoning), they're pretty young on defense and on the OL. but they have very good overall team speed, and the QB, despite last week's game, is still very good. and Fields will do nothing but get better.

and FL, like it or not, isn't going away anytime soon.

i do agree about the rest of the division. i think for most, they fall back to Earth next season. and the East kinda gets back to what it used to be with FL, GA and TN going at it at the top.

Dooley was fired and became a skill position coach in the NFL and is now an OC at an SEC school.

Butch was fired and became a intern 😂

Hey, Butch is long gone but think about this for a second. He's an intern for one reason---EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS. He's got it so far up UT's A$$ and he's laughing all the way to the bank. I don't blame him for making the minimum amount to keep the buyout in force. I bet everyone of us would do the same thing if we were in his shoes. He would be foolish to take a head coaching job anywhere until the buyout money is paid in full. Just my opinion. We appear to have a real coach now and the past is the past.

Nah he just couldn’t get a job. Purdue didn’t want him. He could have done what Scott or Warren did and just take a pay cut.

I wouldn’t do either. Both are such beta moves.

@nicksjuzunk ya got family in Arizona?

This looks like it might be the Tonopah-Belmont mine, north of I-10 & west of Phoenix. (Abandoned gold, silver, copper, lead mine.) Man is lucky he survived a fall down a 100 foot shaft, but was smart in letting someone know when & where he was going.

The wife and I explore many of these old mines in AZ & NM every winter, but while I will enter old mine adits (horizontal shafts), I will never go down into these vertical shafts! We have also encountered large diamondback rattlers and javalinas in these mines (no thanks!).

Butch: Lawson, you’re done. Thanks for your work, but pack your stuff.

Lawson: What? Why?

Butch: The players say you’ve been pushing them too hard.

Lawson: well... yeah, but strength is up for everyone, and Bama says no one has our conditioning.

Butch, turning to The strength intern: lemme see your iPhone workout playlist. <scrolls through, nodding in approval at Lil Wayne and Rocky soundtracks>

Butch: Waddya bench?

Mike: ‘bout 350

Butch: Ever run the S&C for a top 10 program?

Mike: Nope.

Butch: Wanna try?
One of the stupidest moves I've seen to date. A couple star players tell him they don't like Lawson so he just up and fires him. What an idiot.

I have no clue how well or how bad Tennessee will play Bama tomorrow. But, I believe that the next time Bama visits Neyland after tomorrow in 2020, they will have a heck of a battle on their hands. JG would be a Senior, the Secondary will be full of talented Juniors, and the O and D Lines will be filled with guys recruited by this staff. The future is bright for Tennessee football!

I don’t think he’s terrible but people act like he’s some amazing offensive mind and he literally has no identity. So that makes me think it’s whatever the head coach wants.

So he’s versatile and not locked into a stubborn mindset while being successful at multiple stops with multiple offensive styles.

Yeah... sounds pretty good to me

I agree with the DL concern but right now that may be only area where we have a potential gap. I feel like we will possibly be upgraded at LB next year with the departure of Kirkland and I don't believe Bituli has shown much to warrant leaving early for the NFL but you never know he just may. The back end of the defense may finally be a strength of the D if Taylor and Thompson continue to improve the way that they have. Defensively we will have the ability to be very good next season even with the question mark at the DL position.

My reasoning on Georgia. Even though Kirby had tremendous success this past season a lot of that was done with a highly talented upperclass laden roster especially on defense and at the RB position. Last season did show the kind of development that Kirby and Co. could do especially on the defensive side of the ball with guys that had been in the program a couple of years. This year I believe they have taken a step back defensively. Their pass rush is not the greatest, their linebackers are not what they were last year and while the defensive backfield has feasted off mistakes they also have shown to have some holes. On offense they are clearly missing the Chubb, Michel combo in the backfield. Don't get it twisted the Swift, Holyfield combination is a really good combination but it is not 1st round 2nd round pick good. The absence of the Chubb, Michel combo has really shown that you can't put the game on Fromm's shoulders. This along with a good but young offensive line is really going to plague them when they face teams with very physical defensive fronts that can stop the run: LSU, Florida, Kentucky, Auburn. They lost the 1st game but I would pick Florida to beat them, Kentucky to hang close and Auburn to beat them. To be honest their offense has looked the best when Fields is in playing the read option than anything. It'll be interesting to see what happens with their QB's moving forward. If Fromm holds onto the position I don't foresee Fields waiting it out until his Senior season since he has already burned is RS chance and if Fromm gets the boot it will be interesting to see if he stays around.

Georgia has looked like a 3 loss team to me this year. Now will they like UT progress and get better next year there's always that possibility but I don't think they are going to have year in and year out success similar to Bama and last year's squad.

Never peaked on the field, but seems to be a great kid and I hope his education gives him great opportunities

VFL

It's fun to watch these players grow up even if we know way too much info these days. His maturity shown in this tweet is a far cry from him quitting the team/video game debacle a few years ago

Well, I’m breaking my own rule and taking the Sunday morning message during football season. Topic is on intercessory prayer. Not sure if i’ll Be able to see any of the game before heading out... not sure I want the distraction or if maybe it would at least be settled in my mind if the score is out of hand before going.

Ugh... and this is why I normally don’t do this. I could probably use some intercessory prayer

I'm hoping Pruitt can have a similar run to what Saban had at LSU. Sounds crazy, but part of me is hoping Saban stays at Alabama long enough for Pruitt to get a program built here before he leaves for Alabama.

People hate on Donnie on VN constantly, but the dude could coach. A shame he was also a cheater.
