I don't look at their playcalling, a lineman is not going to hold back and Georgia's o-line looks to have deficiencies. Their d-line has not gotten pressure like they have in the past without blitzing. WGWTFA.Of course Georgia has held back in their first two games. Why would they go full tilt on both sides of the ball against inferior teams they could beat in their sleep....But I don't believe CJH has shown all his cards either will be a interesting Cat and Mouse game come Saturday.
These are good points, especially concerning the middle of the field. Anybody that has watched our defense under Banks has noticed that we are very vulnerable (might I say bad) down the middle of the field. The question for me is it due to his scheme or the fact that our linebackers and safety's have not been very fast and good in pass coverage. I think our linebackers are improved (still vulnerable) but not sold on safeties yet. Georgia has also had elite tight ends that could exploit the weakness. Based on our first two games I'm not sure we have fixed that weakness in our defense. I hope we have but I fully expect Georgia to attack it and test it out. This game to me is hard to predict as there are just too many unknowns and both teams are totally untested. I like our chances this year better than the last few and think the home field advantage leads the Vols to a big victory over the Dawgs. My biggest reason in picking the Vols is I just don't think Stockton is a good enough passer. His legs scare me but we have been pretty good at neutralizing mobile quarterbacks under Banks. The legend of Joey grows and the Vols get it done 26-24.That's not really how it has gone down. Georgia has scored more points in the 1st half than they have in the 2nd half in every game against Heupel. It hasn't ever really been a case of the tired defense breaking late in the game.
Hubbs laid out the passing stats, and Georgia has had just a disgusting amount of success throwing over the middle against Banks.
Stockton sucks. Gotta blitz him, speed things up, and muddy the waters.
A lot of his plays, some of which were very impressive, were after the pocket broke down and he ad-libbed. Not much evidence that he is seeing the field and making timely decisions based on his progression, thoughNobody said he was trash.
Watch the game. Stats don't tell the whole story. Especially because a big chunk of those stats was when the Vikings went prevent because the game was over barring an onside kick. You could argue his poor performance when the game did matter is partially why the Vikings were able to come back.
He was missing wide open guys, making bad decisions, etc... Stuffing the stat box once the game is over is why his stats look better than his performance was.
I do not under any circumstances think that Georgia is garbage. They have as good a team as anyone in the country, but so do we in my opinion. But what I believe or any other fan has no bearing on the outlook of the team, and I believe that they are focused and feel like that their being dismissed. Neyland will be rocking and that is no small thing Kirby's over downplaying it tells you that he is worried about it. For the first time in a long time I feel like we can go toe to toe with them and don't need anything special to happen. WGWTFA.Yes...I know...I pointed that out myself about the OL...the pass rush thing is kind of a mirage, according to their followers they have not sent more than 5 at all this year. I'm not going to go watch their games to see, so I am assuming they are telling the truth.
You think they are garbage, I think we will be lucky to score 20 and win the game....I hope you are right....I want to be wrong
I am not dogging our offensive team or staff...UGA is just loaded with elite defensive talent. I'm not dogging our defensive team or staff either....they are down 3 of their 4 best DTs and 2 best CBs....whether you like it or not, Georgia has some extremely talented guys on offense that could bust a huge play.
We can win, but we have to play a great game in all phases to do it.
I just don't want these overconfident blind idiots coming in here andting all over our HC, his staff and our players if this doesn't go the way they think it is going to go.
Ya, I think he's relying too much on what he did in college. It's great to be elusive and escape to extend a play, but a lot of times he's having to do that because he's not making good decisions earlier in the play or not seeing what he's supposed to.A lot of his plays, some of which were very impressive, were after the pocket broke down and he ad-libbed. Teams may hold back plays and schema but they don't hold back talent and effort. This time of year you watch the LOS, that tells the tale of a team.I mean I think Georgia has been sandbagging...but I personally always think "holding back" is a dumb gameplan especially early in the year...I'd want my guys to get reps doing what we want them to do as much as possible.
I was thinking this earlier when I saw that comment: You still have to execute what you run if you're going vanilla. People are harping on how Georgia looked because they failed to execute even those "vanilla" plays.Teams may hold back plays and schema but they don't hold back talent and effort. Exactly, a great team destroys lesser opponents while running base stuff, just like we did to Syracuse and ETSU. The most alarming thing if I'm an Georgia fan is that they could not impose their will and run all over Peay. I'm not saying they can't fix things teams do every year but it didn't look good last week.I was thinking this earlier when I saw that comment: You still have to execute what you run if you're going vanilla.
