Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Okeydokey...well I can tell you that from up close personal witness that Georgia's defense is huge, extremely quick and fast, and extremely strong fundamentally.

Their offense is clunky and jerky, and a little weak from injuries to the interior OL...but they are still really fast and quick, so they will make a few plays against our not so great this year defense.

Think what you want, castigate me for being objectively honest...but this game is going to be a war that we might not win if they don't decide to show up and sleep walk...which they NEVER will as long as Kirby Smart is there because he absolutely hates us because we beat the 💩 out of him when he played at Georgia.

All I'm saying...so don't twist this...is we can win this game, but we will have to TAKE it....if we screw around and make stupid mistakes, and don't run the ball effectively, we are going to get our ass whipped.
UGA will be a challenge. Who'd'a thunk it?

Dont think we're scared as much as just looking at the data. We've lost by an average of 20 points. They have a 6'7" 248 TE, and 6'6", and 6'5"'receiver and stable of backs. QB really isnt that big a deal when you have monsters to throw too.

We will see. So far Banks has been taken to school. Josh hasnt been able to dial up same plays against this defense; and Kirby D has taken us to task with designed pressure.

I really think the way to beat Georgia is to do what we've been doing. Use talented O line to rip off 5-6 yards, use screen game, and even draw plays. Do what UGA wants to do. Then, when least expect, PA to crossing or slant over middle to Brazzell for chunk play.
If we can hit a few 20yd+ passes, we'll soften up that D. That should make it a lot easier to handle. Not much you can do when they know every pass you do is gonna be 10yds or less with runs up the middle.

This was originally posted in August/September of 2010. I can’t find the exact original posting, but credit to @nicksjuzunk for keeping it going in some old game threads. It’s a VN classic (*And by the way I’m pretty sure the original poster was doing it tongue in cheek):

“These is some of the reasons we gone whip Georgias ass this year

1. They sorry ass hell.

2. Mark Rich is a damn idiot and he has compiled a staff of damn fools. Ole Dooley wouldnt consider a single one of em for even a water boy position. Them damn jokers couldnt even cut the grass at Tennessee.

3.They team is soft and many of them is prolly sissies.

4.They quarterback is a freshman and he is short as hell.

5.They running back Caleb King aint gone stay healthy.

6. They defense is new and that Grantham fella aint never been no count as a coordinator no where.

7. They secondary is sorry as hell and they couldnt intercept a pass if you tossed it right to them underhanded. Them damn dogs will be last in the country in turnovers again.

8. Our team is more talented as ussual.

9. Them boys is afraid of the mighty T and all it stands for.

10. They mascot and they cheerleaders is ugly.

11. They fans is stupid and Athens is a ****hole.

12. Tennessee is a better state.

13. Coach Dooley is a damn smart genius and is gone out trick coach Mark Rich with his mind.

14. Our boys is better players and is tougher.

15. We took all they best recruits last year, Rodgers, Neal, James and them sissies feelings is hurt about it.

16. Chuck Smith is clearly gone be the best assistant on the field that day.

17. Our dog is more better and Rocky Top bad ass and will be played all damn day long.

18. Most importantly we always WHIP THEY ASS!!!

My prediction is 39-5 VOLS.

If I left anything out yall please add it and as always how bout them VOLS!!”

Cautiously optimistic. However, nuts guarded by layers of BVS calloused skin after being smashed in the cab by a little gremlin named Kirby D.

In the Heupel era the most annoying part...

Georgia has averaged 450 total yards against Banks.
Heupel has only averaged 317 total yards against Kirby.

We have to be able to move the ball and score...they always manage to erupt when our defense gets tired out from being on the field.

Exactly. Its science. Until we can stop them, and they dont stop us. They win.

Also will come down to who can score the most points.

I think Georgia might have played defense intentionally vanilla, but I'm not so sure they purposely performed so mediocre on offense. We're about to find out. Either way I'm expecting their best Saturday. However, if Marshal and Austin Pea can put points up on an intentionally vanilla Georgia defense then it stands to reason we should be able to score somewhat ourselves even at full throttle. If we can run the ball effectively especially against the light box I feel pretty optimistic. Where Georgia kills us traditionally imo is by stuffing our run with a light box and then having enough coverage everywhere to hold our receivers (literally). If we can effectively run the ball and also karate chop their DBs grabby hands on breaks we can make some hay.

Totally random tidbit of info I just learned and don't know how I never knew it...Sean Astins (Sam Gamjee, Rudy, Doug..etc etc etc) real father is Desi Arnez Jr, not John Astin of The Addams Family fame..😵‍💫

John Astin legally adopted him as his son after he and Patty Duke was married, Sean was 18 months old when they married..

Sooo...Sam Gamjees grandma is none other than one of the GOATs..Lucille Ball🤯🤯🤯

I think QB runs will help to pull their defensive backs in a little. Past 2 years they have played safeties back and press coverage with their CBs because Nico and Joe weren't huge run threats. If Aguilar can roll out and burn them for a few good runs it may get them cheating up and open up a deep bomb or two.

This is the way! I don’t know why he can’t see that you can’t sit back in zone and send 4 against the best teams in the conference. That doesn’t win games.
Everyone has tendencies. Including banks. And he likes zone for 2nd and 3rd downs. But he has brought more zone blitzes on third so far. He isn’t changing his scheme. But let’s hope he decides to blitz more this game because Stockton hasn’t played a true road game and I think he will fold.

Nobody said he was trash.

Watch the game. Stats don't tell the whole story. Especially because a big chunk of those stats was when the Vikings went prevent because the game was over barring an onside kick. You could argue his poor performance when the game did matter is partially why the Vikings were able to come back.

He was missing wide open guys, making bad decisions, etc... Stuffing the stat box once the game is over is why his stats look better than his performance was.
There's been multiple posters and media pundits that said he was trash. I watched the game. The vikes came back and the bears had about 1:30 to get a field goal. The game was on the line the entire time. Were we watching the same game?!? Was there misses? Sure. Did he make bad decisions? Sure. But he also made some great passes. He extended plays and he did make some good decisions. I would argue he is better than last year but is not a finished product. He's slightly above average. There are only a handful of elite to great QBs in this league.

That's not really how it has gone down. Georgia has scored more points in the 1st half than they have in the 2nd half in every game against Heupel. It hasn't ever really been a case of the tired defense breaking late in the game.

Hubbs laid out the passing stats, and Georgia has had just a disgusting amount of success throwing over the middle against Banks.

Stockton sucks. Gotta blitz him, speed things up, and muddy the waters.

Georgia's o-line has been hot garbage against weak competition and their pass rush is not up to par.
Yes...I know...I pointed that out myself about the OL...the pass rush thing is kind of a mirage, according to their followers they have not sent more than 5 at all this year. I'm not going to go watch their games to see, so I am assuming they are telling the truth.

You think they are garbage, I think we will be lucky to score 20 and win the game....I hope you are right....I want to be wrong

I am not dogging our offensive team or staff...UGA is just loaded with elite defensive talent. I'm not dogging our defensive team or staff either....they are down 3 of their 4 best DTs and 2 best CBs....whether you like it or not, Georgia has some extremely talented guys on offense that could bust a huge play.

We can win, but we have to play a great game in all phases to do it.

I just don't want these overconfident blind idiots coming in here and 💩ting all over our HC, his staff and our players if this doesn't go the way they think it is going to go.

We brought in Alan Williams to beat Georgia. They have killed us in the middle of the field. Our safeties haven’t been good against UGA and it was a flaw in Banks system. We brought in Alan to fix this issue and help with the DB scheme. Georgia hasn’t seen some looks yet and I expect a couple picks this game.
