This is from an Illinois message board. Not sure how legit but they are saying lots of smoke and they are not happy about potentially losing him.

I went and looked, they’re nervous. But they also made the comment that it’s been quiet. One guy even name dropped Volnation. So they’re definitely concerned. I’m still not sure I trust it. But we’ll see.

5 days after Altmeyer announced at Tennessee and Illinois basketball game that he was staying, Illinois took a QB from the transfer portal. That QB was Ethan Hampton, who was the starter for Northern Illinois last season and who had played a lot in the seasons before. I wonder if this upset Altmeyer and made him more open to leaving?

This might just be me but it doesn't make sense for Hampton to transfer to Illinois unless he was promised playing time. He originally committed to Wake Forest out of the portal to be their starter before Clawson retired.

Mine was a poor post.
I should have been clear about what I was referring to.
Altmyer's announcement that you alluded to and the same one that I posted a video of, was pretty emphatic that he was staying at Illinois and it didn't make sense to me that he would renege after all the love he was shown.
But, I was unaware that they brought in Hampton after Altmyer's announcement. So, yeah, I can see how that might change a young man's mind.
