Recruiting Football Talk VIII

It's probably going to happen in 2026 season. I have no issues with a 9 game conference schedule. The 3 OOC should be 1 matchup with a Big 20 powerhouse, 1 Mid Tier MAC team and 1 game vs CHATTANOOGA or ETSU every year or rotate the 2.

Competition only makes you better.
It might, but Coaches, ADs and Presidents aren’t going for it until TV brings some more $$$.

Currently TV networks get 8 conference games and 1 P4/5 OOC with most teams, but if the SEC goes to 9 conference games the TV networks will still want the 1 big OOC game.

The Universities think they’re already giving them 9 “meaningful” games, which is enough in their opinion.

There is no reason to play a OOC team odd campus. Home and away ONLY.

MAC teams are scrimmages.

ETSU, we dont want none of that this year. They're tough.
Well ETSU and Chattanooga would get a handful of cash for taking the beating ever year. The MAC could be HC game. The Big 20 could be a H&H series like the one vs Nebraska in 2026&2027 and Washington in 2029& 2030.

Oh the money will be handed out, too much revenue for the Networks to make in the long run.

I watched the Bama and Vandy. Tape. More of the same minus two plays.

1st drive - Pass rt deflected LOS. Pick 6.
2nd drive - TE split to right, wide open for 15 yards and then 32 YAC. Again, TE in same spot wide open for 17 yards. JM designed run left 2 yards. RB touchdown run.
3rd drive - Deep left bomb wide open and overthrown. Sacked. 15-yard out (right) to Williams dropped. Punt.
Drive 4= Dump 3 yard and 5 YAC. Designed run left loss of 2. Crosser for 15 yards + targeting. 3 yd dump to RB. Next two plays were RB runs that resulted in TD.
Drive 5 - 8 yard out to left. 8 yard dump to TE over middle. 10 yard crosser running left to right to #2. 11 yard out route to right side. JM designed run 13 yards for TD.
Drive 6 - Pass to left overthrown. Should have been 20 yard gain. Passed LOS on throw and loss of down Punt.
Drive 7 - Deep ball to left (first time connecting in 3 SEC games) to R Williams who makes a jumping catch and no one tackles on sideline so 20 YAC and TD.
Drive 8 - Out to the right for 15 yards. Crosser to TE for 15 yards. Sack Fumble recovered by Vandy.
Drive 9 - 5 yard out to TE on the right side. Busted coverage and bomb to the right side for 50 yards. JM designed run up middle for 10. Flat to TE for 2 yards. Scramble right for 1 yard. Incomplete to left. Shovel pass for 8 yards. End around to #2 to TD

Vandy won by running out clock. More of the same here. He prefers the right side of the field and crossing routes from L to R. He occasionally looks left with out routes or passes to the flat. He always uses safety valves in RB and TE who squat 3-7 yards beyond LOS. If we force this man to his left and tackle well, we will win.
Looks like I'm good at scouting. Go Vols! I let out an embarrassing screaming tirade last night after Brooks pick. I don't care. I'm relieved when we beat FL. I'm different level ecstatic when we beat Bama. Here is what I loved most about yesterday. Every person that made a mistake, made up for it.

Dylan Sampson - First fumble of career in a horrific moment. Ends with 130 and 2 touchdowns. Not to mention excellent pass pro.
Brazzel - Several drops, then makes the biggest play of the game.
Golbert - Misses two long FG's but makes the biggest with the game int he balance.
Lott - Bad offsides, then major sack
Pearce - Missed sack and let JM get pass to flat off. Then major sack at the end and constant pressure.

Nico - Missed deep throws, Nails the big one to Thornton. Bad pick. Biggest TD pass of his career in the biggest moment.

This team has what it takes. They know how to win. Not beautiful yet, but really good and will get better after that win. I think we are only 1 of 5 teams that can beat Georgia along with Ohio State, Bama, Oregon, and Texas. To beat GA you have to make less mistakes than them.

Two years ago Vols win, storm the field, and CBS keeps the footage running so everyone watching can see. Enrollment applications spiked for out of state students. The kids who watched that on tv are now freshmen and sophomores so it’s not surprising they would want to rush the field and experience what they saw two years ago.
Was storming the field last night warranted? I’d say no. But do I care? Absolutely not. Getting beat down and humiliated for years against your fiercest rival and then beating them back-to-back at home is reason enough for me!
